The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Someone's gotta help me!!!

Hey guys, I'm need of some help. I have been training for about 9 months and I have lost 20 pounds. I've gotten much stronger but I can't lose the fat. I don't look fat but I have so much fat everywhere, my stomach, my chest, my arms, its all over. I'm like a skinny "fat" guy!!! I don't know what to do. I try to eat right, I workout and I do cardio 4 times a week.

I'm 5'10, 186 lbs. I would like to get hard and lose the fat and eventually get up to 200. I'm so frustrated.

    What to do?!?!?

    Diet?
    Squats work better than supplements.
"You know, if I thought like that, I'd never put more than one plate on the bar for anything, I'd never use bands or chains, I'd never squat to parallel or below, and I'd never let out the slightest grunt when I lift. At some point in your lifting career (assuming you're planning on getting reasonably strong and big), you're going to have to accept that most people think you are some kind of freak." -Sensei

Well, my diet looks like this:
    breakfast: 2 eggs
    bowl of all-bran
    lunch: tuna sandwich
    salad
dinner: usually whatever my mom made or some grilled
    chicken with rice and veggies

    drink water all day
as far as snacks during the day:
    -yogurt
    -fruits/veggies
    -peanut butter
    -chicken pita wrap

I don't drink soda, hardly ever drink, no fried food.

How many cals are you getting a day? How much protein? How old are you? Have you tried HIIT for cardio?

Don't know bout the calories, don't count em and don't want to. I mean I try to eat right, I really don't want to get into counting my calories and keepin track of every little thing.

I'm 25 yrs old and I do intervals for cardio, usually 1 minute. For about 20 minutes

If you want to gain weight, you're going to have to at least have a general idea of your calories. Even if you count for 1-2 weeks just to get an idea and a frame of reference. Any idea what your body fat % is? You might want to bulk for a while (probably need 3700-4000 cals a day) unless your bf% is up there, then go for cutting (2000 cals or so a day). The idea is to try and gain about 1lb a week if bulking, lose 1lb a week if cutting. Go for 1g of protein per lb of body weight (186 right now for you).

Hope that helps set you straight.

Why do you ask for help and then ignore the answer?

Understand the food you eat. This means knowing approximately how many calories you eat and the percentages of protein/carbs/fat.

If you want to ignore this very simple solution, your progress is going to be a lot slower than it has to be.
