    Raw?

    I have seen posts about peoples weights where they lifted XXX pounds raw. Example--- Scot Mendelson (sp?) bench- 870lbs raw

    Whats the raw mean?????

    We all have newbie ?'s every now and then!!

    Raw means without equipment. Equipment being powerlifting specific wraps, shirts, suits.

    870 lbs? Is that hypothetical or real? I thought the world record was in the 700s.

    That was an example. I forget what mendy's hit for a record... mid 800's. The raw record is quite a bit less... also held by him unless I'm mistaken.
