The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Need gains or die (not literally of course), just need a catchy name for a thread :|

Hey, I'm new to this site and Im going to aim to gain some size, because at the moment, I'm basically a shrimp:
Oh, and im 16 and weigh approx 60kg, and 5'9

    (unflexed unless noted)
    wrist: 15.5 cm
    forearm: 25cm
    bicep: 27cm
bicep - flexed (very poor): 28cm (WTF?!)

well you get the idea, and now know why i want some muscle

Well, should I cut out on all the crap that I eat? e.g. soft drinks, lollies, chocolate bars and all that

What kind of foods SHOULD i eat, and how often?

And what weights/excersises should i start off with to get me going?

Just a basic guideline would be a great help....thanks.

I'd say do some searches and/or list all threads on number of replies (for nutrition forum too).

Questions like these get asked like 3 times a week :/

    Ok,

First of all take a look at the article Dieting Basics. Pretty easy to read and lays it all out.

    http://www.wannabebig.com/article.php?articleid=19

Secondly we have a couple of good guides on gaining weight on www.wannabebig.com

    Namely:

    Gaining weight: http://www.wannabebig.com/article.php?articleid=18
    Wannabebig?: http://www.wannabebig.com/article.php?articleid=17

Also take a look at one of our recommended weight training routines: http://www.wannabebig.com/article.php?articleid=25

After you have done that come back and ask some more questions.

You're right jinxx, questions like these do get asked 3 times a week. And every time somebody responds the same way you did.

Does it occur to anybody that this guy is posting for the first time? Maybe he's never been on a forum and isn't familiar with the search functions. I wish people would take the route Hulk just did and give the guy a few links to check out on nutrition and work outs instead of getting on him and then offering no additional help. I could understand telling people to search had it been their 500th post. But the guy is new. Cut'em some slack.

Best way to cheat on deadlifts...

Stand there for a few minutes, then pace back and forth a lot, huff and puff, wait until everybody's looking. Approach the bar. Back off. Approach it again. Back off. Get some water. Chalk up. Approach the bar again. Then spray some more chalk around. Wait until people start losing interest. When nobody's looking, pick it a little off the floor, and slam it down. Jump up and yell "LIGHT WEIGHT BABY". Then give high fives all around. - Belial

Was I trying to bring him down? Was I being rude?

I dont think so, I answered to these type of questions a lot of times allready but now I usually give the advice to do some searches (which is pretty sound imo). And, like I allready said, list all threads by most replies and read them all, and all of these questions wont be necessary anymore.

I think if the guy knows how to register on a forum, he wont have much problem using the search function tbh.

Btw, maybe there should be a sticky or something for questions like these?

When we say gain weight, we do not mean gain fat. The objective of a bulk is to gain lean mass and this can be accomplished through a good, clean, strict diet.

Well it’s important to get your calories from all macronutrients. Protein, carbs and fat.

Aim for balanced meals throughout the day.

When I get home I will post an example of my diet for you to be able to see a clean diet, percentages etc as it may give you a base to work from.

    Calhoun,

I suggest you go for HST right off the bat. You won't believe your gains.

    Good luck.
