The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Squat vs Hack Squat

    Hi,

I work out at home with no squat machine... I'm unable to do squats with a significant amount of weight, since I can't get the bar over my shoulders. So I've been replacing the squats in these routines with hack squats, since I can do them with a lot of weight and solid form.

I see some routines, like the WBB1 for example, use both the Squat and Hack Squat... which means they must be working the thighs differently, but I'm wondering how. And if the difference is significant, what can I replace the regular squat with?

    Thanks

Keep doing the hacks, add in SLDLs and maybe good mornings. You can also try front squats.

I looked for "good mornings" on exrx.net and didn't find them... and what are SLDL's?

I'm guessing 'Single Leg Dumbell Lifts' but I could be way off

Hack squats can also be done with a bar, by holding it behind your legs. Can;t really explain the form, but works much like a squat, but looks a tad odd

I do primarily hack squats wiht a machine,a nd honestly I prefer them to real squats. I get a much better quad sweep using hacks.
    Let me get this straight...
You get play from the girl of your dreams
PR Shoulder Press using the 3 digit dumbells
Hit up some fun with the guys
    Then get more play
(all in one afternoon/evening I might add.. S)
You are a success my friend . Share your secrets. (Crippy)

free weight hack squats are like backward deadlifts. just think deadlift with the bar behind you and legs no wider than shoulder width.

    Gym PRs: Squat:635 Bench:560 Deadlift:495
