Is it possible to max too much. I normally max out on bench and sholder press once a week sometimes bench twice over even three times if i'm up to it just to see my progress. but i've seen people say that they only max once a month or that they don't even max they just do reps. is that just for their style or should you not try to max too much.
Are you hitting a new PR every week?
If it's really bothering you, cut back to maxing once or twice a month and see how that goes.

i hit a new max every week, normally 5 pounds.. i never try to overwork myself and max out when i'm real tired.. but say for example.. this week.. my bench workouts are monday and wednesday and on friday if i'm up to it.. monday i did my workout for 190 tried to max after workout.. didn't get it.. tuesday i was doing my leg workouts however the machines i wanted to use were taken so while waiting i decided to try my max again. I succeeded in puttin up 200. wednesday i come in and do my bench workout try to max. put up 205 easily.. go onto 210 and get it. thats where i stopped. I was just wondering about it because this is the first time i tried to max three times in one week. it doesnt bother me at all, just wanted to kno why some people choose to do it only a couple times a month. if it was a physical factor or just a personal style of working out
You'll eventually stagnate if your not managing your stress and loading.
