    when to start cutting

I was just wondering when do start cutting before a set date?

For example: Im in my bulking up stage now. Im currently 6'2 249 lbs, and about 19% bf. On Oct 2nd I leave for vacation to the Bahamas with my wife. I would like to be in the best possible shape for that.
So any tips would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you for your time

I started my first cut when I was 19%. Took me 6 mos of slow cutting to get lean (about 9%). I'd say start cutting today.

That's 10 months away. That's a REAAAALLY long time to start a cut for. I'd say if you're looking to be in around the 8% range (what most people consider good shape for the beach) I'd start maybe 4 months out. Of course, if you bulk higher than 19% right now you may need to start a little farther out.

The way I see it, he can just eat at maintenance calories if he gets cut a little early.

That would work, but 10 months of cutting would drive me out of my mind. I'd rather sacrifice 2 or 3lbs of muscle and get done with it 2 months earlier. I'll gain more than that back in 2 months.

That's a good point. Either way he'll be in good shape.

    Thanks for the replies...

Personally I think I am over 19% so I will probably start a bit sooner. Basically I didnt want to get 2 months out, and then find out I should have started cutting months ago.

    Thanks again

if its 10 months away, u could cut for say 3 months and tweak things here n there so u have a perfect cutting diet/routine down pat for your next cutting cycle, then bulk for another 3 months after that (so your BF% doesnt get any higher than 19%), and then cut again for 4 months
