That's pretty wild considering how conservative Perry is. The news hasn't filtered down to San Antonio yet. It's not in the Statesman or in The SA Express yet. I'm kind of surprised that if he is gay it's taken so long for him to be outed...Austin's probably the most liberal city in Texas and its gay community is very politically active.

    EWWWWWW!
Source #1: "I attended a political meeting this morning at which it was reported that Governor Perry's wife has left the Governor's Mansion in Austin. The alleged reason was that she found the governor in bed with another man. If true, discussions of gay issues are likely to take a higher profile in Texas in the coming weeks."

Source #2: "I did not want to say anything until it hit the mainstream press, but I have known about that for more than a week."

Source #3: "...the rumors about Perry and Secretary of State Connor (the alleged paramour) have been "swirling" since January. The governor's office is being very evasive."

For photos of the paramour go to http://www.sos.state.tx.us/about/sosbio.shtml

About 20 people gathered at the Governor's Mansion today at 10:00 am with signs reading "It's OK to be gay, Guv" and "legalize gay marriage."

The protest was in response to rumors swirling around the capitol that Governor Rick Perry was caught by his wife with another man. Protestors pointed to the fact that Perry, a Republican, has championed anti-gay legislation such as the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).

The Texan Republican Party platform reads

"The Party believes that the practice of sodomy tears at the fabric of society, contributes to the breakdown of the family unit, and leads to the spread of dangerous, communicable diseases. Homosexual behavior is contrary to the fundamental, unchanging truths that have been ordained by God, recognized by our country’s founders, and shared by the majority of Texans."

The protestors said they support Governor Perry's right to any sexual lifestyle he should choose. They encouraged the governor to address the rumors as soon as possible.

We had a staunch Republican governor in my home state back in the 80's that was caught "red handed" having sex with 3 African american transvestite prostitutes....Ever heard of Bill Allain? He was forced to resign in disgrace...I love it when hypocrasy is exposed, so please...this one favor...when you're through with this story and find yourselves bored, how about gettin' the goods on this moron, Haley Barbou, in Mississippi? He's married, but my instincts tell me that this guy travels alone way too much....no what I mean?

Rick will pass the remainder of his term quietly & will "retire" from politics to a life on various Boards of Directors. Not unlike Steve Gunderson (R) Wisconsin who was sent packing by Newt when he was outed. BTW at the time Steve was outed Newt's mistress was on Gunderson's staff.

COMMIT with your whole heart, BELIEVE in the difference each of us and all of us will make, and PASS THIS ON to everyone who supports fundamental civil rights and true equality for all Americans:
May 16-- fill your car with gas, buy food for the week, and stick to the plan!--
May 17-19-- do not pay a bill, do not buy or sell stock, do not buy a stamp, do not spend a dime outside Massachusetts, except at gay or gay-supportive businesses--unless, of course, you are spending as necessary to get to Massachusetts for a wedding.
REMEMBER the Montgomery, Alabama bus boycott. It worked.
REMEMBER Suffragists' hunger strike to bring women the right to vote. They made a real and lasting difference.
BELIEVE-- fearlessly spread the message, humbly ask for support, and smile, knowing that we will not cease until we are treated with the same respect and honor our constitution affords all Americans.

I am scared of the gay agenda people because all I see is female softball parks and well groomed men roaming the country w/ paint color chips and fresh floral arraignments. Looks "W" is going back to Crawford TX. and you can have him. Maybe he and Gov. Perry can have some pretzels together. bring em on

Hey, re: the Haley Barbour deal - my brother worked on the campaign for his opponent in the last gubernatorial race. I don't know about Haley's sex life, though there are persistent rumors he isn't above throwing at a punch at any woman he thinks is getting too uppity. BUT Mr. Barbour's campaign spread a nasty whisper campaign against Musgrove, mostly in black churches, that Musgrove was gay. Completely unfounded, according to my brother, and solely thought up to try to kill Musgrove's rep among conservative African-Americans. Don't you love those Republican pieces of ****?

If all the gays have to wear signs in order to get their point across, then maybe we should wear one stating we're not gay. I have no prejudice against gays so long as they stay away from me with it.

The rumors still stand as such. Here's an entry from the Burnt Orange Report...a blog put together by the campus student democrat association...which is surprisingly objective on it.
