Until about 2 months ago i used the smith machine for bench pressing (hahahaahaa)
now i use dumbbells, i like them but my arms are a lot more wasted from them than they were with the smith is this normal?
Yes it is because you are using more muscles from your arms to stablize the dumbells.
Eventually that'll go away once your 'stabilizer' muscles start to adapt.
Smith machines basically do all the stabilizing of the weight for you. So jumping from smith to dumbells, which uses/needs a lot of stabilization, is a big shock to the body.
