The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Anthony- As soon as I can develop a good rhythm for the kipping, and get a bit stronger on the thrusters, I should def. be able to break 10. Thanks man.

Mase- Haha thanks man. Anthony's ****in midget strength really helps him out on his time, course he is a well conditioned lil mfer.

Mitch- Hey now, I'm only about 10lbs lighter than you. A-town was right though, it's only 45/45. Doesn't seem that impressive anymore lol, but the thrusters really kill my grip, which in turn kills my chins, so I'll just keep working.

Eric- Thanks man. We can only both keep plugging along and working hard. As far as kipping goes, you're better off asking Lollipop kid. My kipping is EXTREMELY ugly and not very effective at all.

Ant- Thanks for clearin' that up man.......midget.

Fuck, fight, or hold the light.

Gonna be heading to the gym shortly. Plan on doing a little CF inspired work. Plan is to:

    4 rounds for time of-

    500m row
    25 pushups
    50 bw squats

Shooting to break the time I had for the running and squats awhile back, so I'm looking for a time under 13:00. Haven't rowed in a LONG time, so I dunno what to expect. Times could be well under that or well over that. We'll see.

I also plan on getting some heavy ab work in and maybe some grip work.

Fuck, fight, or hold the light.

Pretty simple, Chubs has to do:

    4 rounds for time of-

    500m row
    25 pushups
    50 bw squats

In 15:00 (or whatever time you want to bet on) or less for Chubs to win, if its 15:01 you win.

Bah, no way. He'll be between 14-15 minutes, that's why I said *closer* to 15.

Under 14 he wins, 14:00 or above and I win.

Sounds good. Now you need Chubs to agree.

Well, I'm really glad I didn't see all these posts before going to the gym, because I'd be out of 10 dollars. Ant, I woulda taken your bet before going to the gym, and now I'm really happy ya'll posted after I left.

Eric- Anthony def read into this challenge a lot more than I did. A 12:00 pace would be assuming Elite Rowing times, as well as pretty much 1 sec per rep on all the pushups and squats.

As it stands, I could only manage 2 secs per rep and finished with a time of *drum roll* 18:29.

    Comments:

I finished all the rowing in pretty much 8:00 even. It took me a lil over 10min to do all the bodyweight squats and pushups. The pushups were easy, but the bodyweight squats were KILLER, specially coming off of the rower. I hadn't rowed in so long, and forgot how much leg drive comes into play. My muscular endurance just isn't at a level to finish in under probably 15 min at this point. Granted I spent a lot of unneccesary time trying to get hooked into the Concept 2 rower and then unhooking myself, but I still don't think I could have broke 17min if everything went perfect. I am though, VERY happy with the effort, just not the time.

    Other Comments-

Ant, I think I could pull a low 1:40 maybe a high 1:30 500m sprint at this point. The rowing felt pretty strong, just the bw squats ****ed me up.

    Other Work-

    Heavy Abs:

    8 x 5

    Static Hold:

    135lbs x failure
    185lbs x failure
    185lbs x failure
    135lbs x failure
    135lbs x failure

    Wrist Curls-

    45lbs x failure

Fuck, fight, or hold the light.

Nice time Chubs. Yeah after i sat and thought about it you would of had to put up some crazy rowing numbers, and after a while all those squats would get to you. Nice work though chubs.

I just came across this WOD, now this looks like death:

I won $10, I won $10! A low 1:40, high 1:30 would be very sweet. You should give it a shot and see how you do when you're fresh.

Eric- Thanks man. Yea, I was WAY to naive in thinking that I could pull some crazy time like that in the condition I'm in now. It gives me a good guideline to go by though and I can't wait to see how much I improve the next time I try this WOD.

Anthony- Yea yea yea, you were right Ant. I admit it. Yea the first 500m I did in a low 1:50 but left something in the tank for the rest of them. The third leg was my slowest time and the fourth leg I turned in a time of like 2:00. Actually very happy with the rowing, but my squat endurance is terrible.

Nick- Haha nah, nothing ballsy there, but thanks bro.

    BJJ:

Jiu Jitsu was great today. Helped the kids out with some stuff. The adults class went very well. Started with either 30-40 armbars from the guard, just to keep it fresh and solid in my mind. Then as a class we worked on the sweep from last class some more, and then worked on something called the Harness. Pretty good stuff. I rolled with my instructor at the end. Just overall a great class.

Yeah. If Chubs can do it I think it's safe to say that 95% of the female population can too.

    Eric- Thanks bro.

Well, sat in class all day up until I went to the gym. Thought things would go pretty well.

    Workout: BJJ Lunges

    Location: School Gym

    BB Lunges-

    45lbs x 5/5
    95lbs x 5/5
    135lbs x 5/0*

*I have A LOT of trouble with stability as my right leg comes out. Even the lightest set seemed way off balance. I don't know if it is some muscular imbalance, or lack of flexibility, but I decided to just squat instead.

    Deep Squats-

    135lbs x 5
    185lbs x 3

    Speed Deads-

    135lbs x 3
    135lbs x 3
    185lbs x 2
    185lbs x 2
    185lbs x 2
    185lbs x 2
    185lbs x 2
    185lbs x 2
    185lbs x 2
    185lbs x 2

    Lying Leg Curls-

    90lbs x 5
    120lbs x 5
    135lbs x 5 (+15lbs)
    135lbs x 5 (+15lbs)
    135lbs x 5 (+15lbs)
    135lbs x 5 (+15lbs)

    Heavy Abs-

    5 sets x 5 reps

VERY pissed at this workout. The extreme lack of balance really pissed me off quite a bit on the lunges. Then I get to the squats....WOW. I haven't had anything that felt this heavy in awhile, and it was SOOO light. I don't know what's up with me today. The speed deads felt good though, so I really pounded them. The leg curls went pretty good as well, but I'm so pissed about all the push ****.

Fuck, fight, or hold the light.
