The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Food:

    Meal 1- Balance Bar

    Meal 2- Spicy Chicken Sandwich

Meal 3- Half a turkey flat bread sandwich, Nitrean, Milk, Smart Choice Brownie

Meal 4- 3 "funky munkeys," salad, Salmon

I went out to eat with the family, and we ate at a restaraunt that will give you a free tshirt if you can eat 3 funky munkeys. Basically they consist of a saltine cracker w/ a raw oyster on top, jalepeno pepper, black pepper, with a spoon full of horseradish, soaked in hot sauce. I ate all three without drinking anything. RAHHHHH!! haha. I'm going to snack on some stuff tonight that I haven't listed above. I'll just eat some stuff when I start getting hungry again.

    No workout.

Put a diesel tank into the back of our truck, and cut grass today. Tommorow I have to set up an electric fence.

Eye- Just realized you already had one.

Ryuage- Yea they are pretty wild.

    Food:

    Meal 1- Nitrean, Milk, Oatmeal

    Meal 2- Spicy Chicken Sandwich

    Meal 3- Milk, Balace Bar

Meal 4- Chicken Supremes, Mashed Potatos

Meal 5- Hamburger, Hotdog, Baked Beans

Meal 6- Milk, Nutri Grain Bar, Raisans

Went to a friends cookout and thats where the Cheeseburger and Hotdog came from. Other than that I think the diet was good today. Pretty happy overall.

    No workout.

    Put up electric fencing today.

I'm ready for the workout tommorow, Back and Shoulders. Should be a good one.

Eye- Yea he does make some wierd faces.

Weekly Weigh In- 162.5lbs. Up 1.5lbs from last week.

    Food:

Meal 1- Nitrean, Milk, Oatmeal, Nutri Grain Bar, Raisans

Meal 2- BBQ Chicken, Baked Beans, Potato Salad

    Meal 3- Spicy Chicken Sandwich

Meal 4- Chicken Breast Sandwich, Milk

Meal 5- Milk, Grape Juice, Balance Bar

Overall a pretty good diet today. Drank a lot of milk. Everything seemed to be in pretty good order today.

    Workout- Back and Shoulders

    Pullups (3s) Palms In-
    BW + 2.5lbs x 3
    BW + 2.5lbs x 3
    BW + 12.5lbs x 3
    BW + 12.5lbs x 3
    BW + 17.5lbs x 3
    BW + 20lbs x 2.5 (-.5rep)

I think the loss in a half a rep occured because of a few things. First I didn't wear my CD player which I estimated to be 2.5lbs. I'm pretty sure it's lighter than that, but I put a 2.5lb plate in my bag anyway. Also, my bodyweight was up 1.5lbs from last time, and also my rest periods were a lot smaller today.

    30 Degree Lat Pulldowns-
    120lbs x 10
    130lbs x 10
    140lbs x 10
    150lbs x 10

Hammer Strength Iso Lateral Lat Row (Weight each side)-
    90lbs x 10
    100lbs x 10
    125lbs x 10

    Overhead Dumbell Press-
    45s x 10
    47.5s x 10
    50s x 10.5 (+1 rep)

I was able to get the 50s up for 10.5. Once again the half a rep comes from my right are becoming straight, and my left arm getting almost there.

    Machine Shrugs-
    Stack x 15
    Stack x 15
    Stack x 15

    Lowered weight, emphasized more ROM.

    Smith Machine Military Press-
    115lbs x 10
    135lbs x 10
    145lbs x 7

Overall not a bad workout. Dissappointed I didn't make a lot of gains but still an intense workout.

Played a lot of tennis today.

    Food:

Meal 1- Milk, Cereal, Balance Bar

Meal 2- Raisans, Chicken Salad Sandwich, Chicken Sandwich

Meal 3- Brunswick Stew, Corn Bread

    Meal 4- Chicken Sandwich

Meal 5- 2 slices of pizza, Nutri Grain Bar

Everything was good except for my last meal, but I have some friends over hangin' out for the last time for quite awhile, so it'll be OK.

    Workout- Chest and Biceps

    Dumbell Press-
    60s x 10
    65s x 8 (+2 reps)

    Bench Press (New Grip)-
    115lbs x 10
    135lbs x 3
    155lbs x 3
    155lbs x 2

Was going to work on some solid triples, but with the new grip it may take awhile to get used to it.

    Cable Crosses-
    40lbs x 10
    50lbs x 10

    Negative Dips-
    BW + 2.5lbs x 10
    BW + 2.5lbs x 10
    BW + 2.5lbs x 10

    Incline Curls-
    25s x 10
    30s x 10 (+5lbs)
    30s x 10 (+5lbs)

Not a bad workout. Not as much bench strength as I would like, but it's all good. Pretty good workout.

Ran 1.91 miles in 15:00min. Not a bad run.

good looking sessions going on in here. I think it's good that you are running even though you are bulking. Keep up the hard work.

Pruneman- Yea, I've gone back to running. I've kinda decided that as long as I get stronger and stronger, I'm not so worried about gettin "big." I also don't want my cardiovascular condition to go down hill while I'm bulking. If I have to eat a little more because of the running, so be it.

    CoCoa- Thanks man.

    Food:

    Meal 1- Raisans, Chicken Biscuit

    Meal 2- Balance Bar, Milk

Meal 3- Chinese Food (2 Plates)

Meal 4- BBQ Chicken, Lima Beans, Mashed Potatos, Mac and Cheese, Roll

Meals 3 and 4 were very big, but spaced many hours apart. I helped my friend move today, so I spent my afternoon and evening loading furniture into a truck. Good Luck in Bama' by the way "Eye." I'm sure my totals were decent at best.

No Workout except moving heavy ass furniture.

Workout tommorow is Back and Shoulders!!!! I'm ready to get in there and do some pull ups!

Even though I am still def. going to college for four years, I am leaning closer and closer towards joining the military. I've always felt like I belong in that setting, and I feel that a life along those lines fits into my thoughts and views on many different things. Because of this, I've made myself another goal above putting on a good amount of muscle. I've decided that by the Sophomore or Junior year of college, I want to be able to run 5 miles in 30mins and I'd also like to be able to do more than 20 pullups at any given time on the bar. I believe that I have the right mindset to be successful, and I think that these two goals will help further my chances of being successful in not only the military, but also any sports field I may choose instead.

BigNic- I'm not really sure at this point. My dad was in the Navy, and I wouldn't mind following in his footsteps, but we used to live by Camp Lejune(sp?) and I've always kinda leaned towards becoming a Marine. One thing I've really been looking at doing, was getting into the search and rescue side of things, much like the Air Force PJs. If I ever decided to go that route, I know I will def. have to possess a physical fitness level not found in many people. When Dad went to Cold Weather Training there was a AF PJ there, and Dad said that guy was one bad ass mf'er. SOO after saying all that, I am really undecided on which branch I'd like to go in to. I'm sure that I'll have a def. decision made during my collegiate career.

Ryuage- Yea its def. not going to be an easy goal, but if I can push myself that far, there's no telling how far I can go.

    Meal 4- Spicy Chicken Sandwich

Meal 5- Roasted Chicken Breast, Double Meat, Fat Free Chips

Meal 6- Grilled Chicken Sandwich, OJ

Overall pretty good. Lot of calories, but I was very active today.

    Workout- Back and Shoulders

    Pullups Palms Out-
    BW + 2.5lbs x 1
    BW + 2.5lbs x 2
    BW + 2.5lbs x 3

    BW + 2.5lbs x 6 (+1 set of 6 reps)
    BW + 2.5lbs x 5

    65lbs x 8
    70lbs x 8

    Machine Shrugs-
    Stack x 15
    Stack x 15
    Stack x 15

    Lat Raises-
    20s x 10
    20s x 10
    25s x 10

    1.85 miles in 15:00min.

Overall a great workout I think. I was able to add an entire set of pullups, and after that I was feeling like a BEAST haha. But really, the pullup pyramid might not be much to ya'll but for somebody that could barely do 1 pullup palms in like 6months ago, I'm REALLY stoked about where I am. Def. an intense workout. The running was down, but not by too much.

Went and played 9 holes of golf and then went and played 2hrs of tennis. A lot of cardio done today but a lot of food to supplement with. Great day overall.

    Food:

    Meal 1- Milk, Cereal, Raisans

Meal 2- Steak and Cheese, Double Meat

Meal 3- Roasted Chicken Breast, Double Meat

Meal 4- Spiced Apples, Milk, Balance Bar

Meal 5- Cubed Steak, Mashed Potatos, Field Peas

    Meal 6- Milk, Cereal

Overall, not a bad day diet wise. Tommorow I'll be out of town for awhile, so it's going to be hard to eat correctly. I'm gonna try my best though.

    Workout- Legs and Triceps

    ATF Squats-
    145lbs x 6
    155lbs x 6
    165lbs x 6
    175lbs x 6 (+10lbs)

    Leg Curls-
    100lbs x 10 (+2 reps)
    110lbs x 8 (+2 reps)
    120lbs x 6 (+10lbs)

My hamstring curls are equal to what they were before the surgery. I actually think my legs may be a little stronger than before.

    Seated Calf Raises-
    110lbs x 10
    130lbs x 10
    140lbs x 10 (+10lbs)

    Rack Press (1/2)-
    135lbs x 10
    155lbs x 3
    175lbs x 3
    185lbs x 3

Changed the height of these. It seems that the middle section of my benchpress is the weakest, so I moved the pins down some and started working there. It's amazing how much difference a couple of inches can make.

    Overhead Tricep Rope Extensions-
    70lbs x 15
    80lbs x 10
    90lbs x 10
    100lbs x 10 (+10lbs)

    V-Bar Pressdowns-
    130lbs x 10
    140lbs x 10
    150lbs x 10

Overall a pretty dag on good workout. Had a lot of increases in weight, which is always a welcome thing.

Didn't really do much except run a few errands and just kinda hang out.

Thanks Ryuage. That's the wierd thing. I seem to be improving my strength quite a bit but I'm not really gaining any size. Oh well, right now I'll take having my strength go up a lot if it means sacrificing a little size.
