The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

I've heard the same thing. They're a great CD band, but put on a ****ty ass show. That's some of their older stuff though. I'm not too keen on their new stuff.

    Kev- Will do man.

    Justin- You too bro.

Merry Christmas everybody. Having an awesome holiday so far. Ended up getting a lot of things. Got a complete set of bands, foam roller, another bar, weight tree, Inzer singlet, and I look like a walking advertisement for EFS and Inzer.

Workouts don't go on hold for the holidays, so here goes.

    Workout: DE Upper

    Location: Home

    Weight: 152.2lbs

    DE Bench (4 grip)-

    45lbs x 10 x 2 (WU)
    95lbs x 5 (WU)
130lbs x 3 (pretty fast, pinch shoulders, tighter arch)
130lbs x 3 (nice speed, tighter arch needed)
130lbs x 3 (pretty good speed, better arch, need leg drive)
    130lbs x 3 (arch flattened, decent speed)
130lbs x 3 (good speed, better leg drive)
    130lbs x 3 (good arch, good speed)
130lbs x 3 (pretty good speed, decent arch)
130lbs x 3 (good speed and arch, need more leg drive)

    Standing OH Press (knees locked)-

    45lbs x 10
    65lbs x 10
    75lbs x 10
    105lbs x 10 (+10lbs, knees bent on #10)

    Band Pull Aparts-

    #2 x 10
    #2 (closer grip) x 10
    #2 (closer grip) x 10
    #2 (closest grip) x 10

    Yates Rows-

    45lbs x 10
    115lbs x 10
    135lbs x 10
    155lbs x 10
    135lbs x 10 (Double OH)

    Standing Rack Supported Band Rows-

    #2 x 10
    #3 x 10
    #3 x 10
    #3 x 10

    Comments:

No huge PR being thrown around or anything, but some very solid work done today. The speed on the benching felt great. I'm contemplating going to 135 on my next DE day. Very happy with my speed. The OH Pressing was coming along. The 105 went up decently, though it wasn't very easy towards the final reps. Not sure what I could put up for a ME PP, but I'd say BW wouldn't be that bad. The rows felt great, both the Yates and the bands. Everything felt good today, and I'm looking forward to tomorrow's DE Lower.

    Stumpy- Thanks man.

Kevin- For real man. I got pretty much everything I could've wanted.

KJ- Thanks bro. Yea, we've got a full set now. The OH Press weight is decent, though still weak.

Eric- Thinking that I'm going to go with the CF Bar and 2 45lbs bumpers from Glenn Pendlay. From there, eventually I'll buy some 25lbs bumpers. Right now, I'm deciding on if I want to purchase them now, or wait a few weeks. I wanted to invest a little money but now I'm contemplating using some of that for the bumpers.

I've got DE Lower coming up. Should be a decent day. I expect the DLs to fly up.

For real Coke. I made out like a bandit.

It was windy as hell today, so had to keep the garage closed up while I lifted. Having a bit of problem with moisture on the weights and bars since the garage isn't insulated. I'll have to see if I can do something with that.

    Workout: DE Lower

    Location: Home

    Weight: 152.2lbs

    DE Box Squats (Low Box)-

    45lbs x 10 (WU)
135lbs x 5 (WU, need to get elbows pointed farther foward)
185lbs x 2 (bit slow off box, elbows good)
    185lbs x 2 (1st rep pretty good, 2nd tad slower)
185lbs x 2 (decent speed, elbows looking better)
185lbs x 2 (coulda sat back bit better)
185lbs x 2 (set too low on back, couldn't get elbows through)
    185lbs x 2 (better set)

    DE DL (platform and chucks)-

    135lbs x 5
    185lbs x 1 (nice and quick)
205lbs x 1 (pretty good, slight overpull, DBL OH)
    205lbs x 1 (nice speed, DBL OH)
205lbs x 1 (chest up first, DBL OH)
205lbs x 1 (better, good speed, DBL OH)
    205lbs x 1 (good speed, Reverse DL)
    205lbs x 1 (good pull, DL)
    205lbs x 1 (decent speed, Reverse DL)
    205lbs x 1 (good speed, DL)

    Full Oly Stance Squats-

    135lbs x 15
    135lbs x 15
    135lbs x 15

Conventional Rack Pulls (2" above knee)-

    135lbs x 5 DBL OH
    225lbs x 5 DBL OH
    315lbs x 5 Reverse DL
    405lbs x 5 (+4 reps) Reverse DL

    Standing Band Crunches-

    #2 x 10
    Two #2s x 10
    Two #2s x 10

    Banded Trunk Twist-

    #2 x 10/10
    #2 closer to rack x 10/10
    #2 closer to rack x 10/10

    Comments:

Pretty good DE day today. The squats were decent. Working on trying to get my elbows farther forward. The DE DLs were fast once again. My DL setup and pull seems to be getting better and better. The Oly Stance squats gave my lowerback such a pump. I almost didn't do the Rack Pulls but decided at the last minute to do them. They felt pretty good as well. I think I woulda had a lot more in me if not for the lowerback pump. Did some ab work and got out. Overall a very good workout.

Stumpy- Thanks man and go ahead. You better put up some big numbers. If you let this skinny guy come anywhere close to your zerchers I'm going to have to laugh at you.

Kev- Thanks man. I try to keep as much balance as possible.

Guido- Haha for real man. They were too good of a deal to pass on.

Bear- I just got finished deloading a week and a half ago. My rest days just happen to come during the middle of the week.

Weekly Weigh In: 152.6-155.8lbs. Stupid scale never wants to give me a solid reading. I like to weigh 3 times in order to make sure everything is dead on. I got 2 readings at 155.8 and then 2 or 3 at 152.6lbs. Oh well.

155lbs x 3 (good arch again, speed and tightness better)
    195lbs x 3 (nice some leg drive)
205lbs x 3 (+2 reps, ass came up slight bit at end, better leg drive)
205lbs x 3 (+2 reps, lacked leg drive and arch, ass came up slightly)

    CGBP-

    155lbs x 13 (#rep PR)
    135lbs x 11
    135lbs x 6

    #2 (gripped closer) x 5
    #2 (gripped closer) x 5

    *RC WORK*

    Comments:

Overall a good day. Wrists tend to feel weak on my heavier sets, so I taped them up again. They felt much stronger. I'm feeling fairly decent off my chest, at least with the 2 sets of 205. My ass broke off the bench on the last rep of each set. Wasn't much, but it did come up slightly.I really need to start doing some heavy tricep work instead of this higher rep stuff. Hit 13 BW reps Close Grip style after the heavy stuff. I think I have maybe 17-18 in me if I'm fresh. I also need to start doing some heavier back work. I don't really feel like I'm pushing it too much. Took a video of today's work that I'll post up shortly. Any input is always welcome.
