The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Nice way to fight off that cold. I am jealous of all the flag football you have been playing. My Sunday mornings are just not the same since our season ended.

    Stump- Thanks man.

    Guido- Haha for real.

LK- I secure the band to the rack, take a wide shoulder width stance, slide to the side until the band is taunt, and then from there, with extended arms, I rotate from L to Rwhile keeping my core tight. I then switch to the other side.

Eric- It's a lot of fun man, but I probably should be letting my body rest instead of destroying it even more haha.

    Coke- Can't stop.

Today is another rest day. Definitely not planning on playing football today. I've played somewhere close to 7hrs of flag football over the last two days. I need the rest.

Fuck, fight, or hold the light.

Well guys, I've made the decision to forego the meet at the end of the month. I had originally planned on doing it, but I've decided not to compete this month based on a couple of things. First, I'd be lifting raw in an APF meet, not even an AAPF. I also don't feel like that my strength level is anywhere near where it needs to be to be competitive. This meet was going to cost me over $100 in total to attend, and I can't justify that much money just to get some meet experience in. If I felt like I could be competitive, I would compete, but as it stands now, there are many things I need to improve on, and I feel that the money would be wasted. I need to put on some size so I'm going to devote some time to bulking up and then cutting down to 165. I'll probably bulk for the next 3-4 months and then use the cut both to get back down to 165 and also to prepare for the summer.

Fuck, fight, or hold the light.

You can never be too prepared man good plan. 100$ to compete raw in a super gear fed like the APF is pretty bad investment in my opinion. Its one thing to be up against single ply but when your up against canvas+briefs and 2 ply denim shirts theres not much you can do.

Yea, that's really what I'm basing this off of. There are usually some 100% RAW meets down this way, so I should be able to hit one of those up sometime. I just don't think that monetarily, this is the best time to get some experience in.

Stumpy- Yea I think I should be good. My leverage is going to get so much better with the increased weight, so I would imagine my squat and dead will begin moving at a decent clip.

Here's how I'm going to manage my split. I'm still going to keep WSB's ME and DE days, but for now, my ME Upper work will consist of a lot of full range touch and go presses as well as some PPs. I'll still board press, but not as often as I had in the past. I think I lost a lot off of my chest when I hit the boards so often. I also feel that I need to make myself more well rounded as far as overall strength goes. I think I've neglected my quads some since I decided to focus so much on a wide stance squat. Because of this, my ME Lower rotation will go as follows:

    Week 1- Deep Oly Squats

    Week 2- Rack Pulls

Week 3- Wide Stance PLing Squats

    Week 4- DLs

Ever ME day will have a "push" and a "pull" motion. So for week 1 it would be the Oly Squats with RDLs. Week 2 would be the Rack Pulls with Zerchers. Week 3 would be PLing Squats with either GMs or SLDLs and week 4 will be DLs with Oly Squats.

After these 4 week mini cycles, I'll take 1 week where I focus on Cleans, PPs, Sandbag Work, Sled Dragging and any other more Strongman related activities. I feel like this will help me stay fresh and help me stay away from developing in inefficiencies as far as doing the same movements on a constant basis. I'll also Deload as necessary, though I'm not going to put a specific time on it.

Weekly Weigh In: 156.2lbs. Starting the journey upward.

Buddy came over to workout and then had to leave right after the warmup. Pissed me off because I actually thought I'd have a spotter today. Oh well.

    Workout: ME Upper

    Location: Home

    Weight: 156.2lbs

    ME Bench (3x3)-

    45lbs x 10 x 2 (WU)
    95lbs x 5 (WU)
    135lbs x 3 (fast, tight arch)
155lbs x 3 (nice speed, arch was good)
195lbs x 3 (nice and smooth, arch pretty decent)
    215lbs x 2 (ass came up on #2, sucked)
215lbs x 1 (wider grip, sucked ass, ass up a bit)

    CGBP-

    135lbs x 5
    155lbs x 5
    175lbs x 5
    185lbs x 4

    Push Press-

    45lbs x 5
    95lbs x 3
    115lbs x 3
    135lbs x 3
    155lbs x 1

    Yates Rows-

    135lbs x 5
    155lbs x 5
    185lbs x 5
    205lbs x 5
    215lbs x 3 (used english)

    Band Pull Aparts-

    #2 (closer) x 10
    #2 (closer) x 10

    Power Shrugs-

    135lbs x 5 DBL OH
    185lbs x 5 DBL OH
    225lbs x 5 DBL OH
    275lbs x 5 Reverse DL
    275lbs x 5 DL

    *RC WORK*

    Comments:

Pretty pissed. I knew going in that the 215 for 3 would be a struggle but I'm pissed that I couldn't at least complete one set of it. Tried a wider grip and that didn't go well. I tend to flatten out when I unrack so I lose some of my arch. I really need to work on that. Oh well, I've got something to shoot for next week. I had a bit more volume in this workout than usual. I was pissed and just felt like slinging something around so I stayed around for more than I should have. I think with some proper drive off the ground I could put up 175 on the PP. Everything felt pretty decent except for my benching, which didn't feel horrible, but still pissed me off.

Fuck, fight, or hold the light.

About time you bulked! I like your new routine outline, especially the 1 week where you do strongman movements to stay fresh. I might steal that idea....

    LK- Haha go head man.

    Coke- Thanks big guy.

Felt great today. Hamstring didn't nag me at all.

    Workout: ME Lower

    Location: Home

    Weight: 156.2lbs

    ME Oly Squats-

    45lbs x 10
    135lbs x 5 (easy weight)
    185lbs x 3 (very smooth reps)
225lbs x 3 (nice and smooth, bit heavy)
    245lbs x 1 (not too bad)
    260lbs x 1 (right to parallel)

RDLs (sumo, a bit above midshin)-

    135lbs x 5
    225lbs x 5 (DBL OH)
    275lbs x 5 (DL)
    295lbs x 4 (Reverse DL)
    315lbs x 4 (+10lbs)
    325lbs x 3 (+20lbs, DL Grip)

    Banded Trunk Twist-

    2 #2s x 10/10
    2 #2s x 10/10

    Banded Rack Crunches-

    #3 x 10
    #3 x 10

    OH Situps-

    35lbs x 10

    Corsican Situps-

    35lbs x 10

    Comments:

Pretty decent workout today. I can definitely tell that I've neglected my quads. A wide stance is much stronger for me right now, but I'll be trying to pick my Oly Stance up. The RDLs felt very good today. Put up a 20lbs PR. Did some decent ab work and shut it down for the day. The effort was definitely there today. I've got some video but I'm not going to bother uploading for a day or two. Happy with today.

Hey man, when you gonna be back at school?

Nice lifting too ... those RDLs are sick

Also, if you're not doing that meet I'm going to probably switch up my split and start doing some gay bodybuilding crap. We'll have to figure out some way to make this work.

Holy- I appreciate it man. Detard outlined it for ya.

Detard- Gracias senor. Felt like a decent day.

Stumpy- Haha forget high reps. I might throw them in on the Strongman week.

KJ- I'll be back up Sunday night. We're grilling out for the National Championship game so you should come over and eat with us. I also need to convince you not to do some gay ass BBing ****.

LK- Thanks man. During a Corsican Situp, you hold a weight on your chest and position yourself in a situp position. From there you come halfway up and hold yourself. You then extend the weight up over your head and behind your head and then bring back to your chest. It just really works on staying tight.

Hey man, thanks for the invite to grill out. I almost came down for that, but I had some stuff that I had to do in Greensboro today. I'll be training in Wilmington tomorrow, though.

I'm not sure if you'll be able to convince me against doing my lame BB ****, though haha...
