The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Strong workout. Sumo RDLs for whatever reason seem like they would suck....hard. Nice oly squats as well.

Sid-Appreciate it man. I'm definitely way stronger in a PLing stance, but I need to build up my quad strength.

Dude-Read the stickies around the forums.

Here is yesterday's workout. We grilled out and had a bunch of people over last night to watch the BCS game. I'm back up here for school, so I get to do the whole study thing again.

    Workout: DE Upper

    Location: Campus Gym

    Weight: 156.2lbs

    DE Bench (4 Grip)-

    45lbs x 10 x 2 (WU)
    95lbs x 5 (WU)
135lbs x 3 (decent speed, arch pretty tight)
135lbs x 3 (better speed, arch slipeed some)
135lbs x 3 (good speed, arch was better, lower backs sore)
    135lbs x 3 (decent speed, arch decent)
135lbs x 3 (pretty good speed, pinch shoulder blades more)
    135lbs x 3 (good sped, better arch)
    135lbs x 3 (decent speed, uneven press)
135lbs x 3 (pretty good speed, nice arch)

    Standing OH Press-

    45lbs x 10 (locked knees)
    65lbs x 10 (locked knees)
    85lbs x 10 (locked knees)
    125lbs x 10 (+10lbs, PP)

    Band Pull Aparts-

    Monster Mini x 10
    Monster Mini x 10

    Chins-

    BW x 10 (WGPA)
    BW x 10 (MGPA)
    BW x 10 (CGPI)

    Seated T-Bars-

    45lbs x 10
    65lbs x 8
    75lbs x 6

    Comments:

Mixed feelings on yesterday's workout. The speed was pretty good on my DE Bench. I could've set a tighter arch, but my lower back was pretty sore and was making the arch a bit difficult. The OH Pressing continues to go up. I'm actually pretty happy with that. I think I'll be able to get 135 for 10 next week. Been awhile since I've done some chins, so I hit 3 sets of 10 up. By the time I got to the T-Bars, I had such a pump going on, I couldn't lift my arms up. That's pretty crazy considering I'm usually good for 15 reps at that weight, and I definitely haven't been getting weaker. Oh well haha.

Fuck, fight, or hold the light.

    Comments:

Good session today. The speed on the squats was feeling dead on. Justin was saying it was the quickest he's seen. The deads were also dead on. I'm thinking I'll bump on a bit on both next week. Hammy was nagging me just a slight bit so I think I'll be even faster if that's not bugging me. The cleans felt good as well. I think if I can develop speed from such a poor starting position, I'll be able to put up some decent stuff when I go from the floor. Did some ab work and got out. Happy with my effort today.

Fuck, fight, or hold the light.

    Cp- Thanks man.

    Coke- Haha gracias man.

Eric- Thanks man. I never thought Florida would have a shot at all, but damn I was wrong.

Did some boxing with KingJustin tonight. First time ever going live with my striking. He had like 6 or 7inches on my reach and is a much better boxer, so I got knocked around all night. Fun stuff.

I love that video you put up (the one with godsmack and emery) I tried Zerchers the next day. Felt good. It's like getting a bicep and leg workout at the same time! Gotta find a way to work them in permanatly. Do you use anything for a pad on your inner arms? I have alot of red marks there now! lol

Holy- Haha it's all fun and games until you keep getting punched in the head.

Levantar- Nah I don't use anything on the arms. I chalk up and make sure that my forearms are somewhat flexed, and this allows me to make a sort of pocket with my forearm and bicep. It tends to keep my arms from getting beat up.

I've done a fair amount of technique, but we never did live sparring with striking. It's definitely something totally different when you've got a 6'4 giant throwing shots back at ya haha.

Hey Skinny-- everything looks good in here. I can't believe you're taking the plunge and breaking 155!!!

BTW, regarding your bench arch, for me its about getting an arch where your shoulders are actually angled into the bench so that when you drive your legs, it just pushes your shoulders even deeper into the bench.
