The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Hey Andrew, I can't find my phone anywhere, but I'm probably going to start lifting between around 4-6.

It's all good man. You didn't miss anything at all.

Weigh In: 154.8lbs. Down a bit but this is the first weigh in in awhile on my usual scale. I thought I had ate more than this, but apparently the increased calories is making my body burn **** off at a faster pace. Will step up big time next week.

    Workout: ME Upper

    Location: Campus Gym

    Weight: 154.8lbs

    ME Bench (3x3)-

    45lbs x 10 x 2
    95lbs x 5
    135lbs x 3
    150lbs x 3
    195lbs x 3
    205lbs x 1

    CGBP-

    135lbs x 5
    155lbs x 5
    175lbs x 4
    135lbs x 15 (maximum legal width)

    Yates Rows-

    45lbs x 10
    95lbs x 10
    135lbs x 5
    155lbs x 5
    175lbs x 5
    185lbs x 5

    Seated T-Bars-

    45lbs x 10
    65lbs x 5
    90lbs x 5
    100lbs x 3
    90lbs x 5

    Fixed BB Curls-

    60lbs x 10
    80lbs x 5
    60lbs x 10

    RC Work

    Comments:

Words can't begin to describe how disappointed I am in this workout. I felt sure I'd hit 215 for two sets of triples but could barely manage one rep at 205. I don't know what in the hell was wrong with me today. Everything felt like crap. Next week I'm going to PPs. I will not have an effort like this tomorrow.

Fuck, fight, or hold the light.

It comes & goes in Cycles Chubs... if every workout was fantastic, then you wouldn't really know how to progress thru pain, misery and misses!! You kept going with your workout and showed a little intestinal fortitude. Now direct your attention to your diet, keep some more food and get your mindset in place to blow away the iron during your next workout.

    GL.. and keep it heavy!!

Yo, me and Dave just got down grappling for awhile, and we decided we're really tired of using those damn 4x8 mats. We're thinking about getting a wrestling mat or something like that and finding some place in the school (or somewhere) to put it. I think his buddy Alex (who you might know) was going to chip in for it, too. Any ideas / would you be interested in throwing in ~$20?

Kev- Appreciate the words of encouragement man.

    LK- For sure.

Bear- I agree man. Thanks for putting things in perspective.

Stumpy- Haha I know I'm not eating enough but never track my stuff. I always go by the scale. I'll just eat a good bit more next week.

Holy- Haha definitely not after that workout.

KJ- Mats are pretty damn expensive bro. LMK if you find something worthwhile though.

Better today than yesterday for sure.

    Workout: ME Lower

    Location: Home

    Weight: 154.8lbs

    ME Rack Pulls-

    135lbs x 5 (1st Pin, WU)
    225lbs x 5 (1st Pin, WU)
315lbs x 3 (1st Pin, pretty easy, stance bit wide)
    365lbs x 1 (1st Pin, slow, Pins low?)
    405lbs x 1 (2nd Pin, pretty decent)
    425lbs x miss x 2 (nothing)

    Zerchers-

    135lbs x 5
    185lbs x 5
    225lbs x 3
    255lbs x 3
    285lbs x 1 (+10lbs PR)

    Banded Trunk Twist-

    #2 x 10/10
    #2 closer x 10/10
    #2 closest x 10/10

    Banded Rack Crunches-

    #3 x 10
    #3 x 10
    #3 x 10

    Sled-

    70lbs forward 30yrds
    70lbs forward 60yrds
    70lbs backward 60yrds
    70lbs forward 60yrds
    70lbs backward 60yrds
    70lbs backward 30yrds

    Comments:

Not as good as I would've liked, but a better workout than yesterday by far. Couldn't hit a PR on the Rack Pulls today. Really couldn't break 425 off the rack. My shoulders round forward and I just can't stay tight enough to break it off the pins. I was able to put up a PR on my Zerchers though. I think I could've hit another 10lbs PR but didn't force it. Decided I'd do some sled work after I did some ab work. Not too bad today but I'm going to eat an assload of food and kill it next week.

Fuck, fight, or hold the light.

    Good work bouncing back today.

And yeah, mats are more expensive than I thought. I was expecting ~$100 and they're about $650. Oh well, maybe we can think of something else.

I was thinking about putting rack pulls in my routine at some point. When you do them the starting point is suppossed to be your knee right?

Kev- Haha don't be jealous bro. The sled is an old car hood.

    Coke- Appreciate it man.

KJ- Haha for real. I had priced them awhile back and they are insane.

Eric- Thanks for the kind words man. I'll bounce back this week for sure.

Lev- You can vary the starting height. I usually go anywhere from 3" below the bottom of the knee to the top of the knee cap.

LK- It'll be a couple of weeks before I max on Rack Pulls again, but I plan on killing it for sure.

DE Upper tomorrow. Looking forward to killing it.

Gal- I've got pin holes in the rack from 14" to 72". The holes are placed every 2-3" or so, so I have a good amount of variation.

    Comments:

Good session today overall. Justin said my speed looked the best he's seen, so that's good. Felt like the speed was definitely there. The CGBP felt good as well. I'm doing ME PP on Friday so I wanted to move my CGBP to today. The shrugs were easy as were the rows. They definitely felt better than last week. Did some curls just because my tendons have been screaming at me lately and I've heard it can come from too much pressing causing an imbalance. Dunno if that's correct but figured it couldn't hurt. Overall a much better workout than last week.

Fuck, fight, or hold the light.

Thanks man. I've done the same weight for the last three weeks. Depending on how my ME feels this week, I may bump up to 140 or stay at 135 for one more week.

    Comments:

Very happy with the effort today. Energy hasn't been that high in awhile. The speed on the box squats felt great, so I'll increase the weight a bit next week. The deads were a tad slower than I would've liked, but it was with an increase in weight so I'm not mad with it. They speed still felt decent. The zerchers were fun. Got some gain on that. There was like 100 people in the gym, and it seemed like they all wanted to get a view of me doing the zerchers haha. Guess I'm the only crazy sob in the gym. Overall a great session with good intensity.

Fuck, fight, or hold the light.
