The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Coke/Detard- I appreciate it guys.

Rick- I just like to throw a week in there every now and then when I do some strongman stuff. Helps keep me fresh and more balanced.

Cleans are hard. Trying to move things while under 160lbs is hard. Therefore cleans while being light as a fairy are super hard. Nice work bro!

Haha I appreciate it Sid. I would've really liked to have gotten 185 but I just couldn't get my wrist turned over. I can get the weight up high enough that a clean with a squat would've been no problem at all.

    Nick- Thanks man.

LK- The powercleans went pretty well. Can't really complain about the miss. If I was doing real cleans, I would've hit it no doubt.

Pretty good work today. Nothing too much to complain about. I can tell I haven't been benching with speed lately. It took me awhile to get some good sets in. Was able to put up some rep PRs which was good. My back work went pretty good as well. Can't really complain there. Looking forward to tomorrow's session.

I like to rotate grips 4 times. I'll start with my widest grip first, then move it in a bit, then a bit closer and then the last one is close grip. I do that rotation twice.

    Comments:

Pretty good session overall. I can tell it has bene awhile since I squatted off a low box. I needed to sit back a bit more but it went fairly well. Speed could've been slightly better. The speed with my pulling was pretty good. I need to work on getting my chest up and shoulders back a bit more but overall pretty good stuff. Hit up a couple sets of RDLs. Those went pretty smoothly. Nothing heavy. Hit up some core work and jetted. Overall a good DE day.

    Appreciate it Coke.

Had to go by my dad's office earlier. I've been having some shooting pain in my left lower back the last two days. He said that my SI joint is pretty tight and when I stand it starts to stretch causing the pain to develop in my lowerback. He said it probably came about from the wide squatting and pulling I've been doing. Such fun haha.

Weekly Weigh In: 154.8lbs. I haven't been feeling all that great the last couple of days and it seems as though the lack of hunger has done me in. Oh well, back to trying to kill it next week.

155lbs x 3 (nice and quick, arch could've been better)
185lbs x 3 (fairly smooth, arch all over the place)
205lbs x 1 (fairly smooth, back on the right side cramped)
225lbs x 1 (+10lbs, brought down slow, touch and go, big arch, HELL YEA)

    CGBP-

    135lbs x 10
    155lbs x 5
    175lbs x 5 (press was everywhere)
    185lbs x 5 (+1 rep, press was everywhere)

    Comments:

YEAA!!!! My first 225 bench ever! I didn't even feel all that great. I'm down 4lbs since last week, had a cough for the last two, and my back has been spasming lately. Man I'm happy with today's work. Got some good CGBP in. Decided to do some shrugs and hit up some heavy chins. I think my bench is finally going to start moving now that I'm past that mental stage and I SHOULD be gaining weight on a constant basis as long as I can stay healthy. Great stuff overall today.

    Comments:

Pretty decent speed today. Gonna give it one more week before I think about moving up. The CGBP went pretty good as well. I think next week I should definitely be good for a 3x8 at 175. Got some decent lat work in as well. Going to switch up to some Wide Grip Yates Rows. I really need to hit the lats a bit better and don't think the narrow grip is doing it. My arch could've been better on the bench but overall was decent. Hopefully I feel good for tomorrow.

    Comments:

Actually felt great while lifting. I set the pins just in case my back spasmed, but it didn't give me any problems at all. Was very surprised. Everything felt great. Speed was pretty decent on my squatting. I could've sat back a bit better, but it still wasn't bad. I really need to work on getting my elbows through and keeping my back tight. The speed on my pulling was pretty good. Had a bit of problem locking my knees early and it was causing my knee to jerk. It was more of a mental thing. I need to make sure I dip down and come up in a better position. Last set I let my back round a bit. Need to make sure head up and chest up. Decided to do a bit more core work than usual, and also to throw some lowerback stuff into it. Would like to build up my lowerback strength some in hopes that it will indirectly help my SI Joint. Overall a good session.
