The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    115lbs x 10 (OH)
    165lbs x 8 (UH)
    175lbs x 8 (UH)
    185lbs x 8 (UH)

    Muscle Snatch-

    45lbs x 10
    45lbs x 10

    Comments:

The workout today was very good. Not heavy weight tossing good, but very good nonetheless. I've decided to drop the whole grip rotation on my DE benching. I need to learn to bench quickly with my competition grip, so I'm going to focus on that. They felt great today. Everything felt very mechanical. The goal is to get extremely fast with 145 before moving up, and today was a good start. The chins went quite well too. I went through the sets at a decent slip, nothing fast nothing slow. I think with a slight bit more rest I could've hit 8 on the last set. Next week I'll take it up to 15lbs. The first set of CG went well. By the third set my triceps were gone. Had nothing left in the tank. Had some decent rowing at the end, and did a little upperback work before heading out. Overall a great session.

Fuck, fight, or hold the light.

Your workouts are consistently strong. I like the work with the tow strap the other day, good stuff. I have no clue how you arch like you do, I would snap in half if I tried that.

Haha appreciate it man. My arch isn't anything special at all. I actually believe it's pretty weak. One day I'll get a good arch going.

    Great looking workout Chubs...
    Speed work was great...

And you know what they say about arch??? PVC is your best friend... stick some of that under your low back and you don't have a choice but to arch... lol... I'm too chicken to try it...

Unholy- Haha thanks man. The volume doesn't really bother me too much.

    Detard- Appreciate it.

Stumpy- AWWW aren't you nice haha.

Bear- Haha yea you're right. PVC would take care of that problem, but I'm not looking to go there right now lol.

    Coke- Thanks man.

A BUNCH OF MEDICINE BALL STUFF

    Comments:

Not blazing speed today. The speed wasn't tremendous so I decided to make the focus of today, form. My form was exceptionally tight on my squats. Very happy with how they looked. Form could be better on my pulling. I tend to really roll the shoulders over. Not quite sure how my back looks. Did some lowerback stuff but stayed away from GMs. I was feeling a bit sluggish/worn down so didn't want to overdo it. Did a lot of core work with the medicine ball. First time I've used it. I love it. Overall a decent, but not great workout.

On the days where your not feeling 100% you just gotta focus on form like you did. Nice workout. I used a medicine ball for the first time today aswell and I gotta say, they can really work wonders for abs.

Chubs, you gettin' bigger on us? haha... gratz on the exam and a good workout, also. Medicine balls are awesome... My favorites with them are V-ups with my arms fully extended and abdominal twists at a 45 degree angle.

Detard- Yea I was pretty impressed with it. Gonna have to pick up a couple, although they're a bit expensive.

    Stumpy- Thanks man.

Unholy- The plan is to bulk to about 170-175 and then cut back to 165 where I'll maintain.

BoB- Thanks man. We did quite a bit of work with them. Definitely got a good workout.

LK- Thanks man. I hardly ever pull conventional from the floor. REALLY not built for it.

Sid- That's how I roll haha.

    Coke- Thanks man.

Brute- Trying my best. Got one more year left.

So Justin stopped by on his way up to Raleigh. We decided to do a bit of GPP work. Didn't want to do too much because I've got ME work tomorrow.

    GPP:

(was done as fast as possible, all the way through)

    50yd Car Push
    75yd 80lbs Sled Pull
    75yd 80lbs Sandbag Carry
    15 Burpees

    REST

    75yd 80lbs Sled Pull
    75yd 80lbs Sandbag Carry
    50yd Sprint
    50yd Car Push
    20 pushups
    75yd Sprint

    Comments:

That was about all for the day. It's been a long time since I've done anything that challenges my anaerobic capacity. I about puked up the salad I had 5min prior to doing this. Definitely shoulda waited until after the session to eat. It was pretty fun, and Justin only beat my times by about 15 seconds. I was pretty happy with that.

It was pretty fun. First time in a long while that I've done anything along those lines.

Today's workout was much more normal.

Weekly Weigh In: Weight was all over the place. Had a bunch of high numbers and a bunch of low. The median was somewhere near 163.

    Workout: ME Upper

    Location: Home

    Weight: ~163lbs

    ME Bench-

    45lbs x 10 x 2 (WU)
    95lbs x 5 (WU)
    135lbs x 3 (very fast)
155lbs x 3 (nice and fast, hand off, tight arch)
    185lbs x 1 (nice, smooth, tight arch)
    205lbs x 1 (nice speed, strong pressing)
220lbs x 1 (nice even press, need better arch)
    240lbs x 1 (+5lbs PR!!!, nice press overall)

Singe Arm DB Rows (weight not including handle)-

    50s x 10/10
    60s x 5/5
    75s x 5/5
    85s x 5/5
    100s x 5/5

    Close Grip 3 Board-

    205lbs x 5
    215lbs x 5 (+3 reps)
    225lbs x 3 (+10lbs)

    Yates Rows (wide grip)-

    135lbs x 10 (UH)
    155lbs x 10 (UH)
    165lbs x 8 (UH)
    175lbs x 8 (UH)
    135lbs x 10 (OH)

    *RC WORK*

    Comments:

Smoked it!! Another good session for me. Lately I've been blessed with some good ones, and today was no different. Felt a bit tired going into everything but got fired up. The 240 felt great. Definitely think I have 250 in me in the next couple of weeks. I'm only 10lbs off the goal I set for myself for August 25th. The rows felt great as well. I was able to get my hand around the grip on the DB handle I have, so I got to use heavier weight than I normally do. I think I'm going to shoot for at least 275 by my 21st birthday. So far so good. My CG 3 Boards went up as well, so that made me happy. A great workout today for sure.
