The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

JustinF- HAHA yea, it was a lot of tennis, but I guess since I enjoy it so much, it just doesn't seem like that much work to me.

CoCoa- Thanks man. I'm trying to build up some good cardiovascular condition. The only thing I see is that I can lose weight at the drop of a hat. I'm going to have to start eating A LOT if I don't wanna waste away into nothing.

    No Workout Today

Had my "Easy" run today. I ran at about 9:30 this morning and let me say, it was humid as hell. I did a 3.6 mile run. Pretty good run overall. Breathin' a little heavy at the end, but not bad at all.

Played just a little tennis tonight. Beat the crap out of the guy I played.

Came home at about 9:00 and decided since it felt so good out, I'd go for another run. I live on a dirt road, and that combined with the fact that there is no moon showing tonight, left my run PITCH BLACK. It was dark as hell while I ran. Did a good 1.8 mile run. Pretty good pace, but not a timed pace, just enough to cause myself to breath heavy.

Overall some good running today. Did close to 5.5 miles today. Pretty happy with everything, but I'm looking forward to getting into the weight room tommorow.

Well I dropped over 3lbs last week. I think that may be due to the fact that I wasn't eating much at all. My schedule was pretty hectic but this week I'm trying to eat quite a bit more.

Today's running log called for only 8 minutes of hill running. Because I don't have any hills by my house, I set the treadmill on a 6.0 incline and did my 8 minutes. I must say, this actually caused me to breathe pretty hard.

Overall today's workout was pretty good. I've decided to go back to my normal workout and forget the high rep stuff. I spend so much time running and doing some form of cardio, that all the high rep stuff just totally fries me.

You do a lot of running for someone who is trying to gain weight. Good progress on the lifts.

Douglas- Several posts up, I commented that I'm not worried about putting on weight or size anymore. I'm only concerned about building up my strength, and endurance, which is one reason I am running so constantly.

Alright had a pretty good weekend. Got me some sun and chilled at the beach, but now I'm ready to get back to lifting. Here's a slight recap of some of the days I left out in my journal.

    Friday Afternoon-

Played soccer with the soccer team. Ran a scenic which is 1.1 to 1.2 miles long in 7:2X. Third fastest time out of everybody there. I lead the pack up until the last 150yards, but didn't have enough speed to fend off the other two guys behind me. After that we played 5 on 5 soccer which once again turned into over an hour of wind sprints.

    Saturday-

Got up Sat. morning at the beach and went running. Decided to run in the sand. Ran between the water line and the soft sand, so it was fairly packed with a few areas of soft sand. Ran an estimated 2-2.5 miles. Also did A LOT of swimming. Stayed in the water quite a bit Saturday.

    Sunday-

Played a little tennis tonight, but that's it. Overall had a good amount of exercise over the weekend.

Ate like crap, but had a great time. Like I said though, I'm ready to get back to workin' out.

Soba- HAHA nah not a huge mofo yet. I am getting some better definition and over this week I put on 2lbs, so right now I'm sitting at 164lbs.

AlterSh0ck- Yea, about the only Hollywood thing missing from the run was the hot chick in front of me keeping me "motivated."

JustinF- Thanks man, but from what I see you gettin a bit of cardio in yourself these days.

Ryuage- LOL. Theres just something about running that I enjoy. I just get off into my own little world.

ur a pretty gay guy. playing soccer and all that nonsense. why dont u stick to playing a real "first-class" sport. Soccer and tennis are for "second-class" athletes.

do you know where you are?

Hmmm "Tiger," I have no clue where I am, but I know that only losers move to Alabama. AHAHA, what's up with ya man, I've tryed gettin up with ya but haven't been able to.

Weekly Weigh In: 164lbs. Yes! Up 2lbs from last week, and I won't even trying.

    Food:

Meal 1- Graham Crackers, PB, Milk, Nutri Grain Bar

Meal 2- Chicken Strips, Mashed Potatos, Biscuit

    Meal 3- Cheesesteak

    Meal 4- Spicy Chicken Sandwich

    Workout- Back and Shoulders

    Pullups (Palms In)-
    BW x 1
    BW x 2
    BW x 3
    BW x 4
    BW x 5
    BW x 6
    BW x 7
    BW x 6
    BW x 5
    BW x 4
    BW x 3
    BW x 2
    BW x 1

Hammer Strenth Iso Lateral Front Lat Pulldowns (Combined Weight)-
    90lbs x 10
    140lbs x 10
    160lbs x 10

Hammer Strength Iso Lateral Row (New Grip Vert. Grip) Weight Each Side-
    90lbs x 10
    115lbs x 10
    125lbs x 10

    Overhead Dumbell Press-
    45s x 10
    47.5s x 10
    50s x 12 (+1.5 reps)

    65lbs x 10 (+5lbs)

    Machine Shrugs-
    Stack x 15
    Stack x 15
    Stack x 15

Overall a good solid workout. The pullups were OK but felt a little tough. I was tired by the end of the pyramid. Actually made some progress on some lifts. The first set of the Overhead Dumbell Press felt heavy, and I almost didn't move up to a higher weight. Overall I am happy with this workout, and felt like I had some good lifts.

Wasn't scheduled to run today, but did a slow jog for 1.2 miles. Planned on playing some tennis, but that fell through. Tommorow I have some intervals scheduled, so that should be fun.
