Wow Chub, your progress is fantastic man! Numbers have come a very long way (as you would want them to with the time and effort you've put in =P).

Just some questions about your training though...
You've got ME and DE days. Is ME = Maximal Effort? If so.. wtf is DE =S.
    and in relation to chins...

    Chins-

    BW +45lbs x 5 (WGPA)
    BW +45lbs x 5 (MGPA)
    BW +45lbs x 5 (CGPA)
    BW +45lbs x 5 (WGPI)
    BW +45lbs x 5 (MGPI)
    BW +45lbs x 5 (CGPI)

What in the world do all the acronyms mean at the end of the sets?

Anyway, hope your training keeps getting better and that elbow thing is just a small one off.

Stumpy- Appreciate it man. I base all my numbers off of the way the bar speed feels. I'm not worried about percentages very much. I'm going to stick at 145 until I can sling it like it isn't even there.

Tomv- Welcome to the journal man, and I appreciate it. FYI:

    ME- Max Effort
    DE- Dynamic Effort
    RE- Repeat Effort
    WGPI- Wide Grip Palms In
    MGPI- Medium " " "
    CGPI- Close " " "
    WGPA- Wide Grip Palms Away
    MGPA- Medium " " "
    CGPA- Close " " "

Thanks for clearing it up man =). I assume Dynamic effort is pretty much speed work then?

Your lifts are fantastic man, are you training to compete?

Yea, my DE is pure speed stuff. I'm currently training for a mixture of stuff. I'm training mostly for some PLing Meets but I also want to compete in some Highland Games a couple of months into 2008.

    Hey fag

Nice rack pulls. If I squat 315 in a couple days can you avoid doing ME squats for about 8 weeks? thanks

You could try some repetition effort days once in awhile to keep the joints healthy.

I hate you for those chins.

    Comments:

Mixed feelings about the workout today. I woke up with a bit of a strain in my back so I contemplated not pulling at all. I slapped some Icy Hot on my back before going for my Final Exam and then the gym, and by the time I got there I was feeling pretty good. The speed on my squats was pretty good today. Felt smooth. I'm going to start doing my DE work with a wider stance than normal. See how it helps my squatting. The DLs, however, weren't there. I worked on staying more upright, but it just seemed like I couldn't get much off the floor today. I was also pulling a bit uneven and pulling into the shin pretty quickly causing me to get a nice size knot on my left shin. Could be something to do with the slight strain I was feeling earlier. Decided to cut it short and do some core work. Really need to start doing some good ab work. I neglect it way too much.

Fuck, fight, or hold the light.

That's how it is bro, we all seem to neglect the abs or core work in general...session doesn't look bad at all.

I'm just curious about how you remember the details of how each set felt like. Do you write it down after each one?

Coke- Thanks man. Gotta make sure I give my core some serious focus.

Guido- I'm just extremely brilliant. Hahaha not really. I keep a physical journal that I record information in between each set.

205lbs x 1 (feels like nothing, staying tight)
225lbs x 1 (fast, only hard part was crappy unrack)
245lbs x 1 (nice speed, arch is looking fantastic, great unrack)

    Comments:

Today was a good session for me but I can't decide if I'm happy or not. I hit a PR on the 3 Board, but I know I could've got 275. Not having a hand off really blew. First time I've felt like it really affected my benching. It also sucked when I missed the lift and then had to try and throw 275 off of me. It ended up hitting the end of the 3 Board and popped it up into my jaw. Thought I had knocked a tooth out. I think I should definitely have a 275 bench by August. The rows felt pretty good today as well. Probably could've got 110 but didn't push it any farther than 100lbs. The split jerks give me mixed feelings. Form definitely isn't there yet, which pisses me off. I'll keep working on it.

Yeah man, you definitely need to get someone to give you a lift off on anything remotely close to ME bench. I don't care about your safety, but it makes a very noticeable difference in what you can press.

Either way, really solid 3 boards. I didn't know you were up that high. Nice work.

And btw my squat PR is higher than yours right now haha

Chubs... Nice looking workout... and gret PR...
I hope you were in your rack at least when you missed!!!

Hey, I went thru your last 5-6 workouts and didn't see any KB effort mentioned. Do you still do them? And prehaps just not record them in this journal?

Or when do you mix them in?

I'm trying to get some ideas between yours and Sensei's journals... thanx...

Chris- You're right, I'm still small. The question is, what does that make you haha. Haha I have no choice at this point. If I can't get anybody over, I'm not going to skip the session.

KJ- Haha thanks for your concern with my safety, err I mean numbers. What's your squat max at now?

    Stumpy- Thanks man.

HeavyB- Thanks man, good to see you in here.

Bear- Yea I was in the rack when I missed the lift. It was just getting the bar off the boards and onto the rack that caused the 3Board to hit me in the face. I haven't done any KB work in quite awhile. Ever since I left the studio, the main focus has been on heavy PLing work. I'll play with some KBs if I can ever find them but I don't put any focus on them now. If you have any questions, either PM me or post em up in here.

Had paintball practice today. Got a lot of good work done. Took Mom out for dinner for Mother's Day. Didn't get a chance to workout until after 6pm.

    Workout: ME Lower

    Location: Home

    Weight: 166.6lbs

    ME Squat (sumo)-

    45lbs x 5 (WU)
    95lbs x 5 (WU)
    135lbs x 5 (WU)
185lbs x 3 (watch unracking, shoot for speed, watch groin)
225lbs x 1 (felt very smooth, great unrack)
245lbs x 1 (nice lift, not having to strain much, feeling good)
275lbs x 1 (good lift, nice setup, nice depth)
285lbs x 1 (pretty nice, squats leading up to ME good, stance a bit off)
315lbs x 1 (+10lbs PR, quicker than 305 last ME Day, borderline parallel)
325lbs x miss (good solid depth, came out of hole 4-5")
    315lbs x miss (heart/head wasn't in it)

    Conventional RDLs-

    135lbs x 5 (DBL OH)
    225lbs x 5 (DBL OH)
    275lbs x 5 (mixed)
    315lbs x 3 (mixed)
    335lbs x 3 (+10lbs, DL grip)

    Russian Twist-

    10lbs MB x 12/12
    10lbs MB x 12/12
    10lbs MB x 12/12

    Inverts-

    BW x 5
    BW x 5
    BW x 5

    Box Jumps (20-24" box)-

    Regular Jump x 5
    Seated Jump x 5
    Up/Down x 5

    Comments:

Well, I suppose me being disappointed is a good thing? I'm not all that happy with today's workout. The 315 went up solid enough but I question my depth. I felt good enough to try 325 and hit a solid depth. From there I came out of the hole good enough but about 5" into the lift I hit a wall and couldn't get it. Was kind've pissed so I figured I'd bury 315 for a great single. Went at it way too fast and didn't get my head in the game. Pretty pissed with myself. 10lbs closer to my goal but none the happier. Decided to hit up some Conventional RDLs since I squatted Sumo. Hit a pretty decent triple. Wanted to do some Medicine Ball throws but ended up breaking my platform haha. Oh well. Did some inverts and then threw in some Box Jumps at the end. Going to start working those in more often.

Fuck, fight, or hold the light.

Definitely putting on solid muscle is a slow and gradual manner. Both ME upper and lower days looks tight, but watch the no spotter stuff, that's what got my injury.
