The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Bear- Thanks man. It felt good.

    Stump- Haha I agree.

    Coke- Thanks man.

BigMoney- Appreciate it and welcome to the journal.

Ryan- Haha yea what can I say? I've already hit my goal so now I'm just shooting high. If I don't hit it, so what? If I do, it'll be even sweeter lol.

Lesson of the day: ME Zercher Squats + 95F Heat = Bad JuJu

    Workout: ME Lower

    Location: Home

    Weight: 166.5lbs

    ME Zerchers-

    45lbs x 10 (WU)
    95lbs x 10 (WU)
    135lbs x 5 (WU)
    185lbs x 3 (sitback further, light triple)
225lbs x 3 (nice and fast, sitback more though)
275lbs x 1 (walked out, didn't like it, pretty easy)
295lbs x 1 (wasted energy unracking multiple times, still not bad)
305lbs x 1 (nice deep single, unrack way too close to pins)
    325lbs x miss (blacked out)
325lbs x miss (blacked out but not as bad, still some vision)

Conv Rack Pulls (below btm knee cap, 2nd pin)-

    135lbs x 5 (dbl oh)
    225lbs x 5 (dbl oh)
    275lbs x 5 (mixed)
    315lbs x 5 (mixed)
    365lbs x 3 (mixed)
315lbs x 10 (mixed, nothing left at all)

    Rack Crunches-

    #3 x 10
    #3 x 10
    #3 x 10
    #3 x 10
    #2 x 10/10 (rotation)
    #2 x 10/10 (rotation)
    #3 x 10

    Comments:

Daaaarrknesss. Haha so yea, no PR today but definitely not from lack of effort. Combo of the heat and positioning of the bar absolutely destroyed me, literally. First time I walked 325 out, right as I started to squat everything got dark and got darker and darker until I couldn't see. Luckily my hamstrings stayed tight enough that I didn't just fall out, it was more of a controlled fall. The second time I decided not to walk it out and see if I could hit it. Same result but not as bad. All the singles leading up to it were nice and deep so I think I have the strength in me. This heat was just too much for me to deal with. The rack pulls really hit my lower back. They felt pretty good, but after the Zerchers it just didn't feel like I had anything over 365 in me. The last set of 10 at 315 about killed me again. Felt like puking but didn't, which is good. Did some abs but nothing else. Can't really say I'm pissed because today wasn't a bad session as far as effort, just didn't hit anything new. I've got to try and find someway to combat this heat.

Fuck, fight, or hold the light.

Ryan- Didn't mean to sound like I was taking it a certain way. I understand what you're saying. The jump from 250 to 275 could be killer.

    Coke- Haha thanks man.

Stumpy- Yea I should've been a little smarter.

BigMoney- Haha yea. I was going out but at the last minute just bailed the lift instead of going completely out.

Chris- That you do, but the heat owned me even more. That was just freaking brutal. Head down this way and train in it with me haha.

Soo my lower and upper back, and hamstrings/glutes are destroyed. Got up this morning and everything was so stiff and tight. Probably shouldn't have done that last 10 rep set of rack pulls. Not the smartest move. Oh well, live and learn.

Fuck, fight, or hold the light.

Lion- Thanks man, haha ain't lifting naked though.

Sid- Yea for real man. Don't need to be making this a habit.

Body has felt beat to hell today. The blacking out took its toll and then the last two days in the sun running and diving have took it out of me. Possibly should've taken the day off, but naahhh can't be doing that.

    Comments:

Very good speed today on my benching. Actually surprised at how it felt. I felt like crap when I woke up so I wasn't quite sure about this workout. Pleased with how the benching felt. Arch was tight. Leg drive was dead on. Nice stuff. Wasn't quite feeling the chins today. Didn't feel like doing really high reps today so I just decided to hit up some weighted chins. The Close Grips felt fairly good even though I didn't hit a new 5x5 PR. My body just didn't feel like it could handle anything fairly heavy so I quit after the set of four. Really want to keep pounding my upper back and because my lower back is still sore, I decided to hit up a decent amount of upper back work. Overall a pretty decent session considering how I feel.

Fuck, fight, or hold the light.

i stand by my advice. just dont lift naked if you do weighted chins. the chain can be dangerous!!!

be careful not to "overtrain". haha. anyway, man, your chins are sick. how did you get them that strong? just constantly doing them? good session, especially considering how your body felt

Ryan- Haha you ain't right man.

Lion- LOL neither are you. As far as the chins go, I don't do anything special really. The success I've had with them has problem come from all the variations I do. I never really stick with one grip or one rep range. I'll do high rep, low rep, heavy weight etc etc.
