The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Yea the tear gave it away for good. There was a lot of coincidences other than that, but the tear sealed your fate. And to think I had fans (bruised eye thread) haha. Douche.

Luckily the heat hasn't been too crappy for my last two workouts.

    Workout: DE Lower

    Location: Home

    Weight: 166.5lbs

Squats (low box used for height guide)-

    45lbs x 8 (WU)
    95lbs x 8 (WU)
135lbs x 5 (experimenting with slightly closer stance)
185lbs x 5 (HB, KO, ST, decent arch, lower bar placement kills wrists)
255lbs x 5 (higher bar placement, pretty decent, closer stance feels good)
185lbs x 1 (felt nice and fast, HB, ST, KO, GA)
185lbs x 1 (feeling good, ST, KO, GA)
185lbs x 1 (nice speed, HB, ST, KO, GA, could kick hips back a bit)
185lbs x 1 (good rep, ST, KO, GA)

    DE DLs (platform, chucks)-

    135lbs x 5 (WU)
    185lbs x 3 (WU)
    235lbs x 1 (smooth, squeeze then jet)
235lbs x 1 (pretty smooth, working on maintaining big arch)
235lbs x 1 (smooth pull, chest up higher)
235lbs x 1 (good pull, chest up even with relaxed shoulders)

    Conv RDLs-

    135lbs x 12 (DBL OH)
    135lbs x 12 (Hook)

    Rack Crunches-

    #3 x 10
    #3 x 10
    #3 x 10
    #3 x 10
    #3 x 10
    #2 x 10/10 (rotation)
    #2 x 10/10 (rotation)

    Inverts-

    BW x 5
    BW x 5

    Comments:

Actually a very solid session this morning. Figured I might be a bit tight in the lower back but it wasn't really that sore. The squats were feeling great. I moved my stance in a bit and actually felt much stronger. I'm working on bringing the bar lower down on my back. Only problem I'm encountering, no matter what weight, is that it kills my wrists. I really need to find something to improve my shoulder flexibility so I can get my wrists in line even with the lower placement. The pulls felt good as well. I'm squeezing pretty nicely off the floor and then shooting up. I'm using a high hip placement that I might try and drop just a bit, but I'm still able to arch nicely and get my chest up. Went very light on the RDLs. Didn't want to push it with the back so I just wanted to get some blood flowing. Did some good ab work at the end and got out. Pretty good stuff today.

Fuck, fight, or hold the light.

those are some good box squats. you should but some chains on the side while doing box squats, now those are fun. i had forgotten to check up on your zercher squats from saturday. i'm glad you shot for a new pr, but when you blackout once you probably shouldn't atempt to lift the same weight again lol...

BoB- Appreciate it man. I've got to stay on top of it if I want to move up.

    Coke- Thanks man.

Lion- You'll pass me once your ass heals. No worries bro.

    Stumpy- Thanks man, appreciate it.

123- Haha it's all or nothing, though it was definitely stupid on my part.

BCorn- Yea I've really got to figure stuff out. Got to find a way to get that bar lower but keep my wrists from killing me.

Thanks for the two links. Appears that I'm just going to have to play with my setup a little bit and work on my wrists flexibility some.

    Ace DE Workout Chubs...

I was having wrist pain just a few weeks/month ago too...
I seem to have "fixed" mine by using wrist wraps for anything above 50% where the wrist is bent - squats, BPs, OHPs, etc.. and then stretching them a lot... even between sets.. between exercises.. everyday... and I haven't used the wraps for the last couple of weeks. (Except for heavy Push presses. Just too much pressure for this old man) I'm happy...

Of coarse, I still don't have enough wrist flexibility to do front squats the real, OL way.. but I'm building that too.

    GL man... and heal up...

Bear- I may end up doing that. I don't want to use them too often and let them become a crutch but at the same time I don't want to be missing lifts because of wrist pain.

    Lion- Good idea.

Just ordered a Black Double Prong Retro Series Belt from EFS. Will be the first time I've ever trained with a belt, so should be interesting.

    LK- Haha for real man.

Risk- The RDLs were extremely light. My lower back was still tight from the Zercher session so I just wanted to do something really light to get some blood flowing.

Remind me to never lift in town again. EVER.

Weekly Weigh In: 167.2lbs. Weight going up again. Good.

    Workout: ME Upper

    Location: Hometown Gym

    Weight: 167.2lbs

    ME Bench (triples)-

    45lbs x 10 x 2 (WU)
    95lbs x 5 x 2 (WU)
135lbs x 3 (nice and fast, can't get arch, bench is insanely low)
155lbs x 3 (good pressing but no leg drive)
    185lbs x 1 (very smooth, stupid bench)
205lbs x 3 (good pressing, all arms though)
    215lbs x 3 (feel good)
235lbs x 2 (sucked, I can't get any arch or leg drive at all AHHH!!!!)

    Chins (MGPI)-

    BW x 5
    BW +45lbs x 5
    BW +80lbs x 3
    BW +45lbs x 5
    BW x 5

    Band Pull Aparts-

    Mini x 10
    Mini closer x 10
    Mini closer x 10
    Mini closer x 10

    CGBP (switched benches)-

135lbs x 5 (bench is higher but completely cheap vinyl)
215lbs x 3 + 1 assisted (ahhhh!!! bench is so slick, can't keep any arch at all)
    165lbs x 13 (+ some rep PR)

    Push Press-

    45lbs x 8
    95lbs x 6
    135lbs x 5

    Incline T-Bar Row-

    45lbs x 10
    70lbs x 8
    90lbs x 8
    100lbs x 8

    RC WORK

    Comments:

Never again. Never. I've lifted in that gym a lot in the past and never thought about how low the benches are to the ground. The friggin bench comes up to only below my knee cap. I couldn't get any arch whatsoever. My pressing had to be at least an extra 3 inches added to the ROM. It sucked. Shoulda just stayed at the house and lifted. CGBP wasn't any better. I switched to the only higher bench in the gym, only to find that the vinyl was slick. I had the height to arch but once I tried to plant I slid all the way down the bench. Couldn't do anything. All my pressing movements were pure arms today. I hate it. Since it seemed like my ME was a bust I just did some random stuff haha. Oh well, lesson learned.

Fuck, fight, or hold the light.

Why would you want to go to a hometown gym when you have a gym in your garage?

Good session even with the crappy benches Chub.
