The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    BW x 5
    BW x 5

    Rafter Chins (CG)-

    BW x 10
    BW x 10

Ring Dips, Pushups, Upper Back work

    Comments:

Lower back has been fairly tight the last couple of days. A little weakness but nothing bad. Didn't want to push things though with a big arch, so I went back to no arch and feet up. My ROM is huge like this haha. I hate it, but gotta get work done. Did a lot of odds and ends today as well. It felt great outside. Some decent speed on the benching though I'm sure it would be much better with an arch and some leg drive.

Mike- Appreciate it man. The CF doesn't do too much for me from a PLing standpoint, but I'm considering some career paths in which I'll need to be in good shape. I do enjoy the workouts though, so it's not a big deal.

Indifference- Rafter chins are just that, off a rafter. I lift in my garage and did these off the rafters over the top of the power rack. The CG just means I went with a close grip.

    Jake- Thanks big guy.

I didn't know you did Helen. Cool. That workout was a lot harder than I expected. Pull-ups and KB swings are pretty easy, but somehow when they paired up with running it was really exhausting.

    Time: 4:33 (1:17 PR)

    Comments:

The pressing went fairly well. My shoulder acted up a bit. I was having a hard time staying tight, so I got the familiar weak feeling near the bottom of the press. My tricep strength is decent, though I'd like to hit much heavier numbers than this. Did some heavy-ish strict rowing. Thought about making a go at the 100s but figured I'd hold off. Ran Fran afterwards. I burnt out quickly. A trainer at the gym said I wasn't getting my chin over the bar, but I know I was bringing my chin at least to the bar. Screw em haha. Smoked a PR even with the heavy work before.

Fuck, fight, or hold the light.

Yeah, you really flew through Fran and set a big PR. Your cardio is much better.

That said, I actually think Darren was right heh. You were coming really close, and so it's kind of semantics, but I think you missed a couple of reps... Doesn't matter, though, your cardio ability is much, much better.

Check out the video of Annie and Gregg doing Fran. Gregg just does get to the bar and doesn't shove his head through on any of the lifts.

    Lion- Haha appreciate it bro.

Cp- He's jealous. He wiped my time and a buddies time off the board over the night.

Didn't really workout today. Did some situps and rowed for a bit. Also worked on my kipping. I'm trying to get a day in between heavy workouts, so I'll be squatting heavy tomorrow.

    Workout: ME Squat

    Location: CF Wilmington

    Weight: 178.6lbs

    ME Squat-

    45lbs x 10
    95lbs x 8
    135lbs x 5
    185lbs x 3
    225lbs x 1
    275lbs x 1
    *In Briefs*
    315lbs x 5
    345lbs x 3
    365lbs x 3 (+2 reps)
    345lbs x 5 (+2 reps)

    GHR Situps-

    BW x 10 x 3

    Comments:

Pretty good squatting today. I woke up and my hamstrings were a bit tight and it was fairly cool outside. The gym was chilly and I was hoping I'd warm up pretty quickly. The single at 275 felt pretty solid. Should be able to hit a good bit more than that raw. The 315 set felt extremely easy. 345 for 3 felt decent though the 30lbs jump was a bit much. 365 felt great as did the set of 5 at 345. Going to keep this rep scheme up for awhile.

    Nice squatting

    But what's up with doing BW x 10 x 3 on GHD's? That's like doing 3 sets of 5 on push-ups...

    Indiff- Thanks man.

    Lion- Appreciate it bro.

Justin- Haha thanks man. I was rushed and really just hopped on the GHD to pound out something real quick.

Weigh In was 177.6lbs this past Friday. I'm back doing my UD2.0 variant. I need to shed some bodyfat and get in better shape if I'm going to take this law enforcement thing seriously. My last 1.5 mile time was 11:55. Absolutely pitiful. It's only the 2nd or 3rd time I've really ran in a year and a half, so I'm not surprised, just ashamed.
