The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

I didn't used to have any motivation, and really did have an attitude of "oh **** it." After awhile, I just became tired of being a fat ass, and being the brunt of everybody's jokes. Pretty soon I started working out for myself, and have come to love the feeling of pushing myself. I've come to realize that I've wasted my day if I haven't pushed myself.

Haha yea, of course 240lbs when your all fat isn't the same as 240lbs of muscle. I was about 5'8 at the time, so it was even worse.

Ryuage- Sounds like me and you have come from the same past. Hopefully I can see results like you have.

    Food:

    Meal 1- Nutri Grain Bar

Meal 2- Fried Chicken, BBQ, Baked Beans, Turkey, Roasted Potatos, Corn, Milk

Meal 3- 2 Turkey Sandwiches, Pickle, Milk, Banana

    Workout-

    Smith Machine Military Press:

    57lbs x 10
    77lbs x 10
    97lbs x 5
    127lbs x 5
    132lbs x 5 (+5lbs)
    132lbs x 5 (+5lbs)

    Squats:

    135lbs x 5
    195lbs x 5
    210lbs x 5 (+5lbs)
    210lbs x 5 (+5lbs)

    Deadlifts:

    135lbs x 5
    205lbs x 3
    215lbs x 3 (+10lbs)
    215lbs x 3 (+5lbs)

Overall a great workout. I could have moved up on some lifts even more than I did, but I decided to not push myself to hard.

Ryuage- Been doing a little running. Honestly, I walk so much everyday, that I'm not really worried about putting on too much fat, and also I've been playing more tennis lately, so that helps work on stamina.

    Food:

    Meal 1- Nutri Grain Bar

Meal 2- Ranch Chicken, Chicken Sandwich, Potato Wedges

Meal 3- Chicken Sandwich, Cheeseburger, Potato Wedges

    Workout-

    Benchpress:

    95lbs x 10
    135lbs x 10
    150lbs x 5
    155lbs x 5
    165lbs x 5 (+5lbs)

Hell yea. I got my bodyweight for 5. At first I didn't think I was gonna get it, but I focused, kept the bar over my nipples, and got it up.

    Pullups (Palms In):

    BW x 5
    BW x 9
    BW x 7

Didn't have the dip belt, so did strict pullups, and quit before I started "kipping."

    Dips:

    BW x 15
    BW + 25lbs x 5
    BW + 30lbs x 5
    BW + 40lbs x 5 (+5lbs)

    DB Rows:

    60s x 10
    65s x 10
    70s x 10 (+5lbs)

Decided to do these today instead of Bent Rows. I could have used more weight than I did.

Overall a TOP NOTCH workout. I'm still stoked about getting my BW for 5. Add to that the fact that I played 1.5hrs of tennis before I lifted, and this workout was even better.

Dragon- Yea man its hot as hell out my way too. I think my bodies gotten used to running on fumes those, so I tend to do alright even in really hot temps.

Gimp- Thanks man. That was a small goal of mine and now I've got a new one: benching 185lbs for 5.

CoCoa- Thanks man. I really don't know how I improved on all those lifts. It may have been a combination of adrenaline and just a refusal to fail on em'. Either way, I'll take it.

Not much to say for this weekend. Went to the football game, our team got beat. Didn't get in until after 4 both nights. Didn't get all that much sleep. I've played some tennis, and my roommate who was also my doubles partner from school, is playing Intramural Doubles with me. We should do pretty good in that.

    No Workout Today

Ready for the workout tommorow. I'm ready to get back in there and hit some weights.

chub: how long you been playing tennis?

I used to play in high school and played some at my juco.

It was hilarious, when we played at the juco...we would go to other schools and if they didnt have a team we would play their pe class. LOL.

I remember one time i had to play against a girl who had just started learning how to play..i kept forgetting and would kill the ball back at her and she would get all pissed.

and then in another match my doubles partner said "if he lobs it to me one more time i am going to smash it right at him" lol. he ended hitting the guy right in the nose and breaking his sun glasses in half. lol

Sup gonnabefit. Welcome to my journal. I've been playing for a little over 2yrs now. Last year, me and my doubles partner ended up as top 15 in the state for doubles. I've had some similar stories about hitting people, especially when the crowd the net.

    Food:

    Meal 1- Nutri Grain Bar

Meal 2- Fried Chicken (no skin), fries, chicken sandwich, slice of pizza

Meal 3- Chicken Sandwich, Fries, Meatloaf, Chicken, Milk

    Workout-

    Benchpress:

    95lbs x 10
    135lbs x 10
    150lbs x 5
    155lbs x 5
    165lbs x 6 (+1 rep)

    Pullups (Palms In):

    BW x 9
    BW + 10lbs x 5
    BW + 10lbs x 5

    Dips:

    BW x 10
    BW + 25lbs x 5
    BW + 30lbs x 5
    BW + 40lbs x 6 (+1 rep)

    DB Rows:

    65s x 10
    70s x 10
    75s x 10 (+10lbs)

I purposely didn't add weight to my lifts (except DB rows). It's been several days since I lifted, and I wanted to make sure I didn't strain my body too much.

I played close to 2hrs of tennis before I lifted, so my lifts should be able to go up somewhat if I lift without playing first.
