The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Money- Haha I hear that.

Red- Yep, I really need to break it in and get to the point where I can touch. I've also really got to get some better tricep strength.

Did a quick conditioning session this morning.

    Comments:

My double unders are quickly getting better. I actually worked up to 10-15 straight with just a single jump in between. It's more a coordination test than anything. I'm getting used to the movement. The tire pulls went decently. I didn't want to push it too hard because I'm squatting heavy tomorrow.

Single ply Metal Viking Presser Bencher. I've only been in it twice, but so far I like it quite a bit. Once I break it in and get my tricep strength up, I think I should see some decent numbers.

I went with a size 50. I actually went by my shoulder measurement and then went up one size. That was what both Travis Bell and Jim Wendler suggested to me.

oh wow! Maybe Metal has a different sizing scheme. I have a 48 F6 that's a size larger than my chest/back flexed... then I have a 44 Katana that's the same size as my chest relaxed. Both of those I was told to take different measurements for... so it all confuses me. Hopefully it works out for the best. Good luck with squatting!

    Comments:

Well I should be happy for hitting all my numbers, but I'm not. I rushed the 375 and as I was walking it out, it was sliding down my back. I should've shut it down but I planted my feet and started squatting. I was all over the place and cut it quite high. I could've racked it and took another go but I had already hit what I was supposed to, so I didn't push it. I'm fairly excited with the pulling. The speed wasn't great but my back didn't give me any problems at all, even after the heavy squatting. I took the 275 for ****s and grins. I'll continue to do this from time to time. Overall a decent session but wish I had hit 375 cleanly.

I appreciate it. It's about 70lbs off my best parallel squat, so I'm not happy with that. With that said, this is the first time in awhile that I haven't had to deal with back pain after squatting.

Nice job man! A clean 365 is nothing to shake a stick at! I don't know why I used that metaphor, but it just came out. Nice job hitting your goal numbers!

    Comments:

Some decent work this afternoon. These numbers are nothing special, but what's to be expected with my weak ass shoulders. I'll eventually get this strict pressing up. Hit a rep PR but still not happy with it. Did some Ghetto T-Bars. They were quite a bit lighter than I've used in the past, but I was making sure to take it easy on my back.

Today marks the start of my deload. Next week I'll get back into some heavy stuff. I lifted with a buddy of mine who does a lot of Oly lifting. The snatch grip DLs were something else. I haven't pulled with a close stance in forever, let alone one with a snatch grip. Didn't work up heavy but they were still a tough little lift.

FFFFUUCCCCK yea. I finally hit 275. At this point I'm probably good for around 245-255 raw. I'm getting a good bit off the chest, but the shirt cuts out quickly and my triceps just aren't strong enough to get anymore out of it. That was a true max. A crazy grinder. Damn I'm happy with that. I'm eating like I want to get into Rhodestown and it's paying off. Maybe this will mark the upswing to my bench. We've also started grappling once a week. It feels good to get back on the mat. I can still see what I want to pull off, but I'm not back to the point where I can get into position.

Nice job on the PR, Chubs! Way to get something out of the shirt! I'm still waiting to get something out of mine... it's looking good though, so hopefully soon.

Rolling on the mats is a lot of fun if you're with a bunch of dudes who know their stuff. I used to roll all the time in the Army. Talk about being dead tired afterwards...

I appreciate it BoB. It felt good to finally hit 275. Working towards 3 plates now.

It felt good to get back into some grappling. It's been 3yrs since I've done it competitively. Because all the guys up there are .mil (SF or Spec Ops) or law enforcement (mainly drug guys), we've got some people that are pretty competent on the ground. It's a good time.

The 275 PR is a great landmark. Next stop 315 in no time.
