The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    BW x 8
    BW x 8
    BW x 8
    BW x 5 slow
    BW x 8

    Comments:

OH Squatting is definitely not my forte. I never do it, so I figured I would do something I suck at. Instead of walking them out of a rack, I ended up push pressing them from behind my neck. Hit a 20lbs PR, which I wasn't expecting. Might have to do these a little more often.

Fuck, fight, or hold the light.

    For time...
    Run 1 mile
    "incentive" burpees

Whatever the minute you finish in, multiply that number x 10 and do that many burpees. If you finish in the last 30 seconds of the minute, add 5 more.

I.e., if you finish your mile in 7:25, you owe 70 burpess. A 7:32 get you + 5 for 75 burpees. Hence the term "incentive" burpee... they're your incentive to run a little faster. Don't rest between the run and the burpees.

Post your time split. 1 mile time and total time.

    Time-

    6:26 mile (22 sec PR)...13:23 total

Haha 60 burpees isn't all that bad. It only sucked after the run.

Working hard man, that's about it. Trying my best to get onto the NCSHP which means I'm having to focus on PT more than anything at all right now.

    2.5 Mile Run (at house)-

    18:22 (4 sec PR)

    Comments-

Although I would've liked a slightly better PR, I'm very happy with this one. I had a pretty nasty headwind coming up the hill and on the last leg of the run. Even with the suck ass winds I still only dropped about 20 seconds on the last half of the run. Good effort.

That running a mile with incentive burpees sounds horrible. Nice work with it!

    Comments:

Pretty decent pressing today. Wasn't quite what I wanted but I'm still hitting decent numbers. My weight is going down and I'm going to have to let it even out here shortly. Even still, my lifts are going up, at least my CGBP and OH Squat.

    Crossfit Endurance-

Sprint/Recover: 3 rounds of (20sec/60sec off, 20sec/50sec off, 20sec/40sec off, 20sec/30sec off, 20sec/20sec off, 20sec/10sec off) Start next round after 10 sec rest...

OH Squatting seemed a bit off today, even more so than normal. For whatever reason, I was having some issues keeping it stabilized. Last set went the best. I was able to find my groove a bit better. The WOD sucked. My lats were smoked afterward.

2.5 mile run at loop- 18: 58 (19 sec PR for location)

    Comments:

Wow, that was a mistake. I ate some chicken salad at 7:30 thinking that I wouldn't run until 10. Found out that I had **** to do tonight so I went and ran at 8. All I can say is that I'm not sure how I held back liquid death. I've never thought I was going to **** on myself quite as bad as tonight. What sucks is that I had a great pace (for me) going and then my stomach started cramping up about the halfway point. Not too fond of filling my drawers so my pace ended up slacking on the back half.

    Crossfit Endurance:

    Run-

    10:20 x 16
10 seconds on 20 seconds off for 16 rounds:

    Distance Covered- 1525m (100m PR)
    Distance Walked (5:20 total)- 569m @ ~15:00/mile pace
Distance Ran (2:40 total)- 956m @ ~4:27:8/mile pace (increased pace by almost 30 sec per mile)

    Comments:

At this point, I think my poor run form is holding me back from being a faster (m/sec) runner. I can typically try to run upright on the balls of my feet, but as I fatigue I can definitely feel myself sit back a bit more. Need to work on this a lot.

    400m x 4 intervals (greater than fastest 800m pace)

    Times-

    1:27, 1:25, 1:30, 1:24

    Comments:

Pressing was one rep shy of my best. I'm not happy with it, but I'm about 8lbs lighter than the last time I took 205 for reps. I kinda ****ed around in the gym today. Neglected a lot of back work that I should've done. I really want to get a ring muscle up so I wasted a lot of time practicing them.

The running intervals went pretty decently. I had originally thought about working on my pacing for a 7:00/mile but once I got out on the road, even a 1:30/400m felt somewhat slow. In the next week or two, I'll see what kind've pace I can put down for a 1.5 mile run.

Awesome work in here man. You don't get much journal love anymore.

Congrats on passing the Basic LE course (w/ awards, very nice). My old platoon sergeant in the Army used to always tell me "lean forward!" when we were slowing down. Maybe that'll help you when you start falling back. If you lean forward a bit it's a little easier for the legs to follow with longer strides.

    Keep at it bro!

    Time- 8:34

    Comments:

Not too bad today. I'm going to follow the 5-3-1 principle I've used on other stuff for my OH squatting. I really suck at them so we'll see what I can do. I'm also attempting to add back in some light DLing. Hopefully take it slowly and see what happens. The WOD today wasn't bad. Just something to get my heart rate up.

This is what I ended up doing today.

    Team WOD:

    25m walking lunges
25 Burpees Per Person (I did 28 to help partner)
    25m walking lunges
100 4 Count Flutter Kicks (I did 75, she was good at these)
100 Swings Per Person (I did 150 to help partner)
    Sandbag Carry 200yds x 3
    24kg Push Press x 80
100 4 Count Flutter Kicks (I did 50, she finished up the other 150)
100 Swings Per Person (I did 150 to help partner)
    25m walking lunges
25 Burpees Per Person (Did 28)
    25m walking lunges

    Time- 34:43

1 mile cool down jog in sand

    Comments:

Did this workout with a couple of friends. I teamed up with buddies girl. She had some good abdominal strength but the 10lbs Sledgehammer and her 16kg KB were beating her up pretty badly. I let her pound on most of the flutter kicks while I did the majority of the Sledgehammer and Push Presses. As such, my shoulders and lats are smoked.

Got my running WOD in this morning.

10 x 130m sprint. Every minute on the minute.

Pretty good workout this morning. Nothing too tough but definitely smoked me. Averaged right around 22-23 seconds per sprint. Last sprint I worked down to 19 sec.

    stretching

    400m sprint- 1:09 (15 sec PR)

    Comments:

Pressing went alright. I think my arch is what is causing me more problems with my back than anything. I typically don't tighten up until I finish benching. I've been stagnating slightly so after next week I'm going to go away from bench for awhile. Probably go to Strict OH Pressing or a Push Press. The sprint afterwards was with a few buddies that had just finished the WOD. I beat them all but that's due more to them still being tired. My hamstrings are smoked from all the sprinting today.

The OH squatting went pretty good for me. I'm making pretty quick newbie gains so that's why there was such a big PR. The DLing actually felt good today. I'm very weak with a conventional stance but my lower back held up pretty good. I did a lot of stretching before hand. I was smoked by the time I got to the mini Cindy. Most of my chinups were Chest to Bar which I don't usually do. I was just done at that point.

Fuck, fight, or hold the light.
