    135lbs x 1
    150lbs x 1
    155lbs x 1
    160lbs x 1

High Block Pull (conv, 3 mats, above mid shin below knee) -

    135lbs x 3 x 2
    185lbs x 3
    225lbs x 3
    275lbs x 1

    Comments:

Just a bit rushed. The pressing was slow. The high block pulls felt pretty good. Not a great session but did what I needed to.

Fuck, fight, or hold the light.

Hate feeling rushed at the gym, strong stuff regardless. I definitely prefer block pulls to rack pulls I need to rig something up and start doing them more often.

Good looking presses. I gotta get a move on with that.

I watched the video you put in my journal. It makes me wanna be a gunslinger!

Are you unfastening the holster for each draw?

Pat - NOV stands for North of Viada. It's my mix between 5/3/1 concepts and ideas and Alex Viada's concepts and ideas.

Kevin - Doesn't feel that great. I'm still working that new setup and I'm not sold on it.

    Workout: NOV Round 1

    Weight: 180.8lbs

    ME Conv DL (92/94/96%) -

    135lbs x 3 x 2
    185lbs x 3
    225lbs x 3
    275lbs x 1 x 2
    315lbs x 1
    375lbs x 1
    380lbs x 1
    390lbs x miss x 2 (W.T.F)

    Swiss Bar Bench -

    bar weight = 35lbs

    bar x 10
    bar + 50lbs x 8
    bar + 90lbs x 8
    bar + 140lbs x 8
    bar + 160lbs x 8
    bar + 190lbs x 6 + 1 forced (+10lbs)

    DE DLs (50%) -

    205lbs x 2 x 8

    Chins x 50

    Comments:

Fucking horrible DL day. I'm all mind fucked with these different techniques that I'm not making work worth a fuck. I've got to iron this out.

Fuck, fight, or hold the light.

I know exactly how you feel on the WTF with the missed pulls. Nothing worse than going to pull a weight you've hit before and know you can hit and have it just not budge, always feels the most soul crushing with deadlift. As far as your bench switching up form and technique is always frustrating until (if) you get used to it. I've changed things up enough times to finally know what does and doesn't work for me, except foot placement... still switching that up all the time like an ass. Anyway rant over, solid sessions try not to let the misses bother you.

Yea, I'll have to gather myself for next week.

Got in today to try and make another session work. Nothing great came of it. Will regroup and hit it next week.

My weight is down quite a bit. No wonder my shit as sessions last week. Much better today. Bar speed felt pretty good. Actually fairly happy with this session. I'll post up the video as soon as it loads. Get y'all to take a look at it and critique.

Every time I see your SSB work I get jealous, 1 more week till I bring mine up to VT from CT. Bench looked solid man though I've never been able to have my foo placement that wide, everything looked smooth though.

Oh I see. Alex V is the man.

I'm building a 5/3/1 for myself. It's got bench, deadlift, squat and press. If I want to put cleans in there where do I do that? do I need to remove something?

    Thanks Kev.

Pat, Alex is def the man. I'd probably put the cleans on a DL day. After your heavy pulling. Almost as a way to get some DE work in.

Nice pressing Drew. Am I to assume your bench max is 265 based on those numbers? I thought you went for 280 recently?

And are you cutting? 3 pounds in one week, damn lol

I've hit 275. I'm basing all my numbers off 265 though to allow myself some room to improve. Running it too close to a true all out max makes it extremely difficult to hit my percentages when I have to unrack myself and don't have the meet like atmosphere to get my adrenalin running. And yea, I had been trying to bring my weight down a bit but nowhere near 3lbs in a week haha.

    Workout: NOV Round 1

    Weight: 177.8lbs

    ME Sumo DL (90/92/94/96%) -

    135lbs x 3 x 2
    185lbs x 3 x 2
    225lbs x 3 x 2
    275lbs x 1 x 2
    315lbs x 1
    365lbs x 1
    375lbs x 1
    380lbs x 1
    390lbs x 1

    Swiss Bar Bench -

    bar weight = 35lbs

    bar x 5
    bar + 50lbs x 5
    bar + 90lbs x 5
    bar + 140lbs x 8
    bar + 160lbs x 8
    bar + 190lbs x 8

    DE Sumo DL (50%) -

    205lbs x 2 x 8

    Chins x 50

    Close Grip Lat Pulldowns -

    Stack x 10 x 2

    Comment:

Decided to switch back to pulling sumo. Been running Conv for a bit, so I'm about ready to roll back into sumo. Took me awhile to get back in the groove, and there's some things that need to be tweaked, but the weights felt great today. Will post the video up here shortly.

I hear ya. Jw, cause 255 looked super easy on that last press. I saw some lady walking around in the vid, so there's your spotter.

DL looked mighty strong. I didn't think 390 looked that bad. I applaud you for going Conv stance for as long as you did. I hate that shit. Sumo all the way.

I tried pulling conv. for a while as well but i'm just not suited for it, swapping back to sumo very soon myself. Pull's look strong Chub your form looks really solid.

    Pulls look good. Very smooth.

Maybe I should try sumo. I stopped dead lifting a while back because I had so much trouble getting my back flat a d my back was always so sore afterward.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. Little tweaks here and there should really help me out.

    Workout: NOV Round 1

    Weight: 177.8lbs

    Strict OH Press (92/94/96%) -

    45lbs x 5 x 2
    95lbs x 5 x 2
    115lbs x 3 x 2
    135lbs x 2 x 2
    155lbs x 1
    160lbs x 1
    165lbs x 1 (+5lbs)

    Push Press -

    185lbs x 3
    195lbs x 2 (+10lbs)
    205lbs x 1 (+20lbs)

Fat Close Grip Lat Pulldowns -

    stack x 8
    stack + 10lbs x 8
    stack + 20lbs x 8
    stack + 30lbs x 8

    Ab Work x 2 sets

    Comments:

Pretty damn good pressing day for me. Strict press moved fairly well and I ended up hitting a pretty decent push press PR. I'm extremely slow, so it turns more into a modified strict press, but I'll take it. Overall pretty happy with today.
