    Comments:

Pretty damn good workout for me today. Probably going to use the 3rd day of the week as an accessory day and hit some more pulling as well as some form of pressing. I REALLY wanted to take 455 for a ride but as you'll see from the video, things were looking like shit and I didn't want to run the risk of tweaking my back again. Overall pretty good effort.

Thanks Kev. It's not bad for a CF gym. Not too many people in there interested in lifting heavy, but at least the atmosphere is half way decent.

Got stupid and did a 6.5 mile run today. First time I've run more than 3 miles since probably 2009. Was a dumb idea. Total time 1:01:07 - (9:22/mile pace). Don't know why I did it, other than I knew everyone else would be taking it easy today and laying around. Didn't want to be that person.

Last time I ran more than 3 miles it took my calves a good week to recovery, im pitiful at running good ups on getting out there and working the ol' ticker.

    Video

    Comments:

As you can see from the video I really got out of the groove on the first press. I think I had a bit too much leg drive and pushed it too far over my face. After that, I didn't use quite as much but it went smoother. I need to find that middle ground. Trying to take a more Dan Green approach to benching.

    Good pulling. Good control.

I don't think my back will ever get flat like that. 👎

Trying to drive my hips lower on my pulling. Worked a bit better. Also went with a higher belt placement. I felt like I could pull a tighter arch like that. I'll throw the videos up when I get them done. Back felt a little tweaked but held up nicely. Weight wasn't flying off the floor but did feel good as I was pulling.

Looks like the 250 your elbows just didn't flare over your face. Everything else looked strong man awesome SSB squat set too sir! Big sumo as well I miss pulling that way I wish it didn't feel so funky to me right now. Did your gym already have all it's chains the one I go to in VT only has 50lbs of chains but I'd love to get more. Can't seem to find anything decent at home depot or lowes.

Edit: what elbow sleeves do you use? I got elitefts ones mainly to use for my shins during pulling but when I went to see how they felt on my elbows they literally cover like 75% of my entire arm.. Which I don't think there supposed to do... Any tips on brand?

I appreciate it Kev. Got way out of position on that first bench set. I actually use the EFS Lg Elbow Sleeves and then the EFS XL Elbow Sleeves as Knee Sleeves. I have a pair of the Large Super Heavys, and they're just too much.

#1 All 3 pulls looked super easy, your crazy if you don't think you can pull more than me right now. You're definitely good for 425+ you smoked those, great form too.

#2 What the hell! I went by the sizing chart video they have on the site and it put me at XXL size which fits my calve no problem for pulling but on my elbow literally covers like my entire arm... this is like trying to find jeans that fit, fuck my build.

I appreciate it Kev...I didn't go by any of the size charts. I just picked up a Large and rolled with it haha. I also used the XL Elbow Sleeves instead of picking up Knee Sleeves. I have tiny calves haha.

    Comments:

Ideally 30hrs of recovery isn't enough to pull heavy again. Unfortunately I had to make it work. Fortunately I had a fucking awesome session. I honestly think I could hit 455 from the floor. At this point, if it breaks from the floor it's going up. Pretty pumped about today's session.

All out of position on the first press. Really fucked it up. I'm working on this leg drive ala Dan Green-ish, and I haven't perfected it. I like it, but haven't got it set just right. I tend to put myself in a position of weakness in the middle of that first press. I really need to bring the bar lower and then I think the flare and drive will put me in a good position. The other sets looked better, at least IMO. I'm going to keep the close stance ATG squatting for awhile. I really need some quad development/strength development, and it also seems to torque my hips and lower back less. Thoughts, questions, concerns?

DAMN, those 455 block pulls were a joke just pull it from the floor already man. They flew up and I agree if you can break the weight from the floor I see no reason you can't pull something closer to 475+ Chubster. That first bench set looked like you just miffed your flare on the press but the other sets looked great. Your setup is pretty intense I think your arch might be bigger than mine sir! Are you liking a wider foot position on bench? Also do you always bench with elbow sleeves?

Great lifting all around man, killing it.

Kevin - Haha thanks brother. I'm going to keep pulling from the mats for a bit and then rip something off the floor. Might as well throw out a steep goal for myself. I WILL pull 475 by Jan 1, 2014. Y'all hold me to it.

Lion - Thankfully we will never have to find that out.

Man your deadlift has really soared the past year or so. Nice work! 475 should be within your grasp.

Pretty good pulling today. I'll try and get the video and get it posted up eventually. Feel like I'm getting a better starting position but we'll have to look at the video to see. Once it breaks its smooth sailing. My left knee and groin are feeling a bit tweaked. Looking forward to the deloadish week coming up. Overall some pretty good work.

Just kind of snowballing here, but when you pull do you ever switch up your hands for your over under grip? I know back when I use to pull heavy a lot, I'd sometimes catch the weight drifting slightly, so I'd switch hands on the over-under and it seemed to help. At least mentally

Not sure if that has anything to do with your left knee and groin.

Lion - I pull double over hand up until I can't hold onto the bar, and then I switch to mix. It could very well be a factor, but I think most of it has to do with hamstring and glute tightness leading to groin tightness leading to knee issue. I've got a deload week coming up so I'll give it a good week of rest.

    Comments:

Incline DB Press felt pretty solid. My left groin is still tight as hell and I probably shouldn't have worked up as heavy as I wanted, but I really wanted 475 for a triple. If I felt fresh I think I could have done it, but it took an ass ton of Blue Heat to get myself loosened up enough to pull it for a single. Was out of position badly on the second rep so I shut it down quickly. Not going to hurt myself. Dropped back to 405 and hit it for a handful of reps. Pretty damn happy with a 20lbs PR, but wanted it for a triple...Greedy I know.

Another easy looking pull with even more weight! PULL FROM THE FLOOR DAMNIT! You smoked that Chub, get it moving off the ground and you've got a nice big tasty PR for sure. 500 or bust by 2014.

Hahaha, all in good time Kevin. My tentative plan (I run one month cycles) is as follows:

October - pull off 2 mats (percentage based off 425), press triples (percentage based off 275)

November - pull off 1 mat (percentage based off 435), press doubles (percentage based off 280)

December - pull off floor (percentage based off 445), press singles (percentage based off 285)

Last week of December run a mock Push/Pull meet for myself and try and set some big PRs.

Fuck, fight, or hold the light.
