What was so bad? Seems like you hit your numbers. Just didn't feel good? Hey at least you got work in even when you felt like crap. Your consistency is what will carry you through, just keep plugging away.

I appreciate it guys. I spent the previous two days in a Search and Rescue class. ~8+ hrs the day before carrying a pack and rifle through the woods, climbing over trees and crap. Took a toll on my knees and groin. Should have been smarter and pushed the workout back another day.

    Comments:

Pretty solid pressing day for me. All this work was done without an unrack or any of my supportive equipment. Given all that, and the fact that I hit the sets pretty easily, it turned out to be a good day. I'm down 10lbs and still haven't lost anything on my bench. Good volume today.

Nice job on all the pressing. Looks like you bounced back after feeling off in your last workout.

Thanks Paul. Felt much, much better. Rested up.

    2.8 mile - 24:13 (-1:01)

I've run 5 times since putting on almost 30lbs and then starting my cut. I've run the same 2.8 mile circuit each time. Over those 5 runs I've shaved almost 4:30 off my 2.8 mile time. Who says that endurance doesn't come back quickly haha.

Paul/Pat - Haha I appreciate it but that run is still slow. I would have to be running around 17:XX to match some of my best times.

I've been in an instructor class for the last 3 days. I'm now a certified Taser Instructor. Long hours and a 2hrs ride home didn't really set me up well for a training session today, but I just couldn't afford to miss again. Turned out to be alright.

    Workout: VCR RE Bench

    Weight: 197.4lbs

    Bench (90/85/75%) -

    45lbs x 5 x 2
    135lbs x 3 x 2
    185lbs x 2
    205lbs x 1
    225lbs x 1
    240lbs x 1
225lbs x 5 (last rep paused 2 sec on chest)
225lbs x 5 (last rep paused 2 sec on chest)
225lbs x 5 (last rep paused 2 sec on chest)
    205lbs x 5 (all 2-3 pause on chest)
    205lbs x 5 (all 2-3 pause on chest)
    205lbs x 5 (all 2-3 pause on chest)

CGBP (pause 3 sec on chest, 68%) -

    185lbs x 5
    185lbs x 5

    Back Work x 6 sets

    Arm Work x 4 sets

    Ab Work x 2 sets

    Shoulder Raises x 2 sets

    Comments:

Actually turned into a pretty damn good bench session. Given how busy I've been with training, and the diet was off, I had some pretty good bar speed. Overall I'm happy with this effort.

    Workout: VCR ME DL

    Weight: 197.4lbs

    Comp Stance DL (beltless 85-100 + %) -

    135lbs x 3 x 2
    225lbs x 3 x 2
    275lbs x 1 x 2
    315lbs x 1 dbl oh
    365lbs x 1
    385lbs x 1
    410lbs x 1 (+5lbs PR beltless)
    *add belt*
    430lbs x 2 (+1 rep PR)
    405lbs x 5 (+2 rep PR)

    A lot of stretching

    Comments:

Turned into a pretty decent session for me. Tired. Not feeling very energetic. Still managed to pull some PRs. My form has gone to shit some. My mobility has slowly declined and I'm getting out of position. Because of this, I backed off the assistance work and spent some good time stretching. I'm looking at attempting a new 1RM at the end of the month, so I'd like my mobility to get back to where I need it.

Still coming forward? It's hard to tell from that angle. Certainly didn't look terrible. Congrats on some PRs.

Paul- I appreciate it. If you look very closely at the video, I set my arch and hips low and then just a split sec before I start my pull I shift my weight to the quads and pick my hips up ever so slightly. That puts the initial push out front and I have to work on pulling the bar back to me. Shouldn't be doing that.

    Pat- Thanks bud.

    Workout: VCR Misc Day

    Weight: 197lbs

    Incline Bench -

    45lbs x 5 x 2
    95lbs x 5
    135lbs x 5
    185lbs x 3
    185lbs x 3
    185lbs x 3

Paused Incline Bench (2-3 sec pause on chest) -

    135lbs x 10
    135lbs x 10
    135lbs x 10
    *fatigue sets*
    185lbs x 1
    195lbs x 1
    205lbs x 1 (+10lbs)
    155lbs x 5
    155lbs x 5
    155lbs x 8

    Back Work x 6 sets

    Arm Work x 3 sets

    Ab Work x 6 sets

    Shrugs x 3 sets

    Stretching

    Comments:

Incline Bench moved along today. A pretty healthy amount of volume. Nothing crazy. I like getting those over the top fatigue sets in. Nice long pause on the chest and still able to power through it. Not a bad session for me.

    Wide Stance GMs -

    135lbs x 5
    135lbs x 5

    Ab Work x 6 sets

    Stretching

    Comments:

Actually started as a pretty shitty squat workout. Wasn't feeling it. Tight hamstring, and knees that are shifting all over the place. Cut it 10lbs under my best beltless. I was wrapping knees for my bud. He had never wrapped anyone, so I told him just to wrap my once so he could see how to do it. I've never wrapped my knees tight and tried to walk a weight out. Hit it for a pretty easy single. Ended on a decent note.

There is research suggesting that squatting with knee wraps is actually a bad idea.

    http://breakingmuscle.com/strength-c...arm-your-knees

I think you can probably poke holes in some of their conclusions but it might be worth noting.

Regardless of all that bullshit good heavy squat session.

Pat - The mental portion is a huge part haha.

Paul - I read through that link. I've gotta say nothing we really do is safe? Putting yourself under any kind of heavy load is not healthy. Knowing how to use the wraps to get the most out of them is a work in progress.

    Workout: VCR RE DL

    Comments:

Was supposed to be a repeated effort day, but I got caught up in the idea of a 10RM. The form looks like shit, so I pulled some singles at 315 to work on things. Afterwards just hit some ab work and stretched. Still gotta work on my form.

Wasn't scheduled to do the workout today but tomorrow is going to have too much going on. My elbows and shoulders are aching like crazy. Speed was decent. Massive pump haha, but not the crazy session I had hoped for.

Nice work Chubbers. Do you ever use bands or chains on your DE days?

Not anymore. As a raw lifter, I really didn't feel like I was getting much out of them. I felt like I was letting my training get too convoluted worrying about band tension and chain weight and whatever. I've since gone back to straight bar work and simple-ish split and have never felt stronger.

    2.8 mile run - 23:58 (- 17 sec)

Took last week off, so this was one run in two weeks. My hamstrings and groin were tight but I was able to gut out a decent run.

Remind me why you run 2.8 miles instead of 3?

I've never bothered with bands or chains either. Convoluted is a good word. I understand that they do good things for some people especially once you start approaching your strength ceiling, but I doubt I will ever bother with them when lifting by myself. Too much hassle for just one person.

I see I forgot to put up my last misc workout.

Paul - Haha just like Pat said, it's a loop around my neighborhood. Just wanted something with a measured distance to base improvement off of.

Pat - Old school iron brother.

    Workout: VCR Misc Day

    Weight: 195.2lbs

    Incline Bench -

    45lbs x 5 x 2
    95lbs x 5 x 2
    135lbs x 3
    185lbs x 3
    185lbs x 4
    185lbs x 4

    Pause Incline Bench -

    135lbs x 10
    135lbs x 10
    135lbs x 13

    Back Work x 6 sets

    Arm Work x 4 sets

    Ab Work x 5 sets

    Comments:

I did this on Saturday. I have to hit a ME Bench so I didn't want to push it too hard. Hit a few rep improvements and called it a day.
