The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Dragons- I used to hate em to man. I've actually got decently strong with them. I use a completely locked arm motion and don't really use much if any momentum getting them up. Kiddo????? You can't be any older than me man lol.

    Food:

Meal 1- Balance Bar, Nutri Grain Bar, Cup of Milk

Meal 2- 2 Roast Beef Sandwiches, Chicken Sandwich, Black Eyed Peas, 2 Cups of Milk

Meal 3- 2 Roast Beef Sandwiches, Chicken Sandwich, 2 Cups of Milk

Meal 4- Fruit Drink (Don't really know if it's good or bad. 10 different juices mixed, with bananas, strawberries and peaches mixed in)

Meal 5- Balance Bar, Cup of Milk

    Workout-

    Benchpress:

    115lbs x 10
    135lbs x 5
    150lbs x 5
    155lbs x 5
    175lbs x 3.5 (- 1.5reps)

    Pullups:

    BW x 10 (Palms Facing)
    BW + 10lbs (Palms Out) x 7 (+1 rep)
    BW + 10lbs x 6

    Dips:

    BW x 10
    BW + 25lbs x 5
    BW + 40lbs x 5
    BW + 60lbs x 5 (+2 reps)

    Yates Rows:

    45lbs x 10
    95lbs x 10
    135lbs x 5
    155lbs x 5
    155lbs x 5
    155lbs x 5

Overall I was dissapointed in this workout. Even though I gained in half of my lifts, the **** up on the bench really pissed me off. For some reason it just wasn't there today. The only good note was the fact that I was able to get my dips back up.

If anybody feels like it, would ya'll explain the importance of pre and post workout meals. As it stands I eat about 3hrs after I lift, but usually immediately before. What should I eat after and when should I eat?

Nice session c-rock, don't worry too much about the bench press. I don't think it's that bad to eat that far after your workout, however you probably want to get a shake with some dextrose immediately following your session.

Overall, I'm just not happy with the way my last sessions have been going. I moved up in over half my lifts, but I just don't feel happy with where I'm at. Maybe that's actually a good thing, but I've come away the last two days feeling dissapointed in my sessions. A couple of observations: The 30s were just a bit to heavy for me on lateral raises. One more week and I should be good. I lost one rep on the overhead press, but I can't really tell why. I'm one plate away from doing the whole stack on leg extensions. For some reason that makes me happy even though I know it's not really that big of a feat. Overall, I'm just wishin I was big and strong.

Played about 1.5hrs of tennis before I lifted. Not right before, but good enough to get my blood flowing.

Don't let a couple subpar sessions get ya down. Sometimes a short break does the trick when that happens for me.

The activity before weights is sure to take away from your session, at least a little bit.

Pruneman, JustinF- Thanks guys. I dunno what it is. I'm gonna wait and see how tommorow goes, and then decide on the course of action after that.

Just wanted to make the general post that my friggin hip flexors are hurtin like hell. I dunno if it was the combination of a good bit of tennis before the workout, and then the leg extensions/curls/and press or what, but it's hard to lounge around without them hurtin.

You're too hard on yourself, Chubs. You've progressed, and that's really all you can ask for. I know what you mean though about it might be a good thing to not be satistfied. Never be satisfied, never be complacent. Fight Club! Or something...

Anyway! I think your lifts look excellent, keep it up bro.

Frozen- Thanks man. I guess I just won't accept the idea of not meeting my goals. I hate not being successful at something I put my mind to.

Worked on eating more today. I sacrificed eating some less healthy foods in order to do it. I just couldn't eat any more clean foods at my meals. Maybe it was the combo of the whole grains and all the milk, but I always feel like I'm going to puke by the time I finish eating.

No Workout today. Entire body is sore. I don't really remember the last time that happened.

Ended up playing a little over an hour of tennis.

JustinF- It does actually feel pretty good. I haven't been sore in quite some time, so I'm actually enjoying this somewhat.

Ryuage- You got it man. You're gonna get 195 for 5, and I'm going to get 175 for at least 6.

    190lbs x 5 (+10lbs)

I'm back bitches. Finally a good workout. This is probably one of the best workouts I've had since I started lifting. My intensity was finally back where it should be. At first I was just going to try and get 175 for 5 but decided to quit acting like a bitch and put 180 up there. Four reps went up and then I hit halfway on the last rep and couldn't quite lock it out. Everything just seemed to be on today. I repped out more pullups than I've ever been able to do, by a large amount. Dips were awesome. Everything just went great today.

Up to you really. I thought about only doing 175 but I was so pumped up by the time I got to the gym, that I knew I was gonna try 180. I'm confident I can hit 185lbs for 5 before my exams end the 15th.
