The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Summer Squat Contest(from April Fools Till The 4th Of July)

    ***********************SQUAT CONTEST**************************
    1. Pick a Squat rep range you want to improve on
    2. Post what your max was for that rep range on April Fools or before
    3. At the end of the contest, the person with the most improvement in his/her rep range wins

    CONTEST STARTS: APRIL FOOLS
    CONTEST ENDS: 4TH OF JULY

    Anyone can enter on any date at any time as long as it is before the 4th of July, I'll update this post to reflect your initial entry and I will update it again to reflect your final improvement on the night before the 4th of July.

    You need to use what your squat was on April Fools or before for whatever rep range you decide you want to pick. When you post specify the rep range you want to max out on!!

    COMPETITORS

    Max-Mex 335lbs X 1 --- 1 REP MAX
    dawk20 465lbs x 1 --- 1 REP MAX
    Dedicated 200lbs X 1 --- 1 REP MAX
    cphafner 345lbs X 1 --- 1 REP MAX
    bill 315lbs X 1 --- 1 REP MAX
    Ironman15 315lbs X 4 --- 1 REP MAX
    Beast 315lbs X 1 --- 1 REP MAX
    Bherks 435lbs X 1 --- 1 REP MAX
    debussy 255lbs X 1 --- 1 REP MAX
    Borris 405lbs X 1 --- 1 REP MAX
    drew 350lbs X 1 --- 1 REP MAX
    Strider2 175lbs X 1 --- 1 REP MAX
    geoffgarcia 165lbs X 10 --- 10 REP MAX
    dxdiw 240lbs X 1 --- 6 REP MAX
    andy51 355lbs X 1 --- 1 REP MAX
    Darracq 260lbs X 1 --- 1 REP MAX
    biggimp 365lbs X 4 --- 4 REP MAX

    Remember the contest is based on improvement! The idea for this contest was from Bill, he sent me a PM and well I think it's a great idea and will draw lots of competitors. I keep a journal on this site so I will check this post almost daily and update to add new contestants.

    Remember to be selective about your rep range. Pick a rep range that you feel you can improve on and just go for it. It's a long contest, the 4th of July is still a ways off, and I wouldn't be surprised if the winner will have a 50+ pound increase, squat HARD!

    I'll join 345*1 is my best. Considering I'm only 170lbs, I don't I will have a huge bump. The start of July ends my bulk, so this contest is good timing. I'm going to gun for 375.

    Bill: here's a exceprt from my journal. This is a typical leg workout.

    Squats:135*6. 185*4, 225*4, 315*4, 335*3, 275*8
    ->the last set was a killer. I just didn't have it in me last night.

    Calf Raise:stack*8, stack+45*8, stack+60*8->stack*8->drop set
    ->I'm about out of room to add weight. Time to move to the leg press station.

    Standing Ham Curls:135*6/6, 160*6/6

    Hacks:5pps*8, 5pps*4
    ->just ran out of gas.

    Seated Calf Raise:90*10, 90*10->45*10

    With the squats, I normally try to do a heavy set with 3-4 reps, and then I drop down for higher reps

    thanks guys for a heads up on your routines
    I haven't decided if I will do a routine similar to cphafner or a powerlifting cycle
    what do you think only one day a wk. or twice ?
    good look fellas , I'm trying to get Chris Mason involved, he's already strong on squats so he might not be as interested. I hope some of the stronger lifters will enter also like

    Quick question for you Dedicated...Is everyone doing Raw lifts for this or are some using equipment??...To be fair I think everyone should have to do this as a raw competition

    Doesn't matter to me whether it's raw or not. I think it needs to be consistent. If you post a weight and you didn't use equipment, then your final attempt should be done the same way.

    Count me in. This is the first time i have participated in this contest thing. Anything special i have to do other than working my ass off?

    My last leg workout i did

    275 x 20
    315 x 10

    any recommendations for a reasonable goal to hit or we trying to see where we get to when july 4th comes?

    You need to pick one rep range you want to improve on. Post with whichever one you want to improve on. So if you want to improve your 20rep max, and 275lbs is your 20rep max, then you can try and improve on that etc.
