The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

All i have is a small George Foreman grill in my dorm

Hey I was just wondering if it's possible to go on a cutting diet and only have a George Foreman grill and a microwave to cook with. I used to make all my foods on the stove like ommelates and stuff. But now im limited to 2 things should i just eat out or what??

    Foreman...

    Hey,

My Foreman Grill RULES! I usually Grill skinless chicken breasts, they cook quick and nice. Also if you take a raw potato and slice it really thin, they grill into nice snacks. I also throw on some Green Peppers!

    Later.

Eating out will ruin your cut. I use the george forman grill religiously and it works great for me. I know people make eggs in the microwave not that i have ever tried it. I'm sure it can be done though. Forman works for all meats and if you have a mini fridge you can keep cottage cheese in it.

Only thing I cook on a stove are my eggs. My fish and chicken are thrown on the Foreman grill. Certainly nothing wrong with it.

My old dorm had a community kitchen, though...may want to look for yours, should have one around there somewhere.

I cannot remember the last time that I used a stove. I have a rice cooker, and a microwave. Granted I eat a lot of foods raw which makes others think that I am weird. However you could most definatly get by in college with the GF grill, and a mic. Cook meat on the grill. Oatmeal, scrambled eggs, and who knows what else in the mic. between that and the caf you should be good to go.

Foreman grills are awesome. Period. Also, do you have a meal plan? I know a lot of cafeterias at schools, like mine, always have grilled chicken breast to eat.

Thanks a lot for the replies I don't really have a meal plan.. right now the dieting im doing is quitting soda, pizza, and fast food except for subway. I also do substitions like wild rice for brown rice and mustard instead of mayo. If this doesn't work I guess i will have to start counting my calories 12 *'s ur bw right? then 60% calories from protein 30% from carbs 10% from fat. The only thing im not sure of is how many calories are in 1 gram of fat, carb, and protein so then I can lay it all out and hopefully have a meal plan and just eat the same damn thing everyday lol

Are you sure that is right? only 4 calories in 1 gram of protein. i'll calculate this right now.. i weigh 170 lbs. * 18 that is around 3,000 calories. 60% of your calories need to come from protein so that's 3,000 *'s .6 which is 1,800 calories just from protein. Then 1,800/4 is 450 grams of protein a day. Im not sure if that's neccessary 1 gram of protein per bw right?

Do you weigh 450 pounds? 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight. I don't know why you're applying all that math. If you weight 170 pounds, 170 pounds x 1 gram of protein = 170 grams of protein. Ta da. No need to turn it into Calories.

    And yes,

    1g protein = 4 kcals
    1g carb = 4 kcals
    1g fat = 9 kcals.

That's too little fat. You shouldn't consume less than 20% of calories from fat - it's required for healthy hormone production. Make them healthy fats from sources such as fish, nuts, avocados and olive oil, and make sure you get some essential fatty acids from fish oil. And 1g per lb of bodyweight of protein should be fine.

Where are you getting this value of 60% from?

    lol, no your not man.

It is crucial to get sufficient dietary fats though, as the gimp pointed out.
If your cutting anything out make it the carbs(preferably the simple ones)

usually the ratio 40c/40p/20f Carbs/Protein/Fats works well no matter what the situation is. I have also had decent results with 30c/50p/20f while dieting temporarily.

As forr the grill, theyre great. You can go for Lean cuts of meat or chicken/turkey. Excellent either way. Throw in some veggies and slam it on some WW toast and your golden.

Lower the cals slowly too. Roughly 500 below maintenence/day.

Overall it should mount up to you losing like 1-1.5lbs/week assuming all goes well.
