    Strength vs Size

Hey, i'm new to weights. i just started a week ago, and here are my stats.
    I'm 13, weight 120 pounds.

I was thinking about witch one to go. Will going for size make my muscles bigger? I play alot of basket ball, but i dont plan on going for muscles like Shaq. I generally bench this. 3x6. Its a division of Strength and Size, but the thing is, its too easy.

    Monday: Chest and Biceps

    1) 3x6 Barbell Bench Press
    2) 3x6 Incline dumbell press
    3) 3x6 Decline dumbell flyes
    4) 3x6 Barbell Curl
    5) 3x6 Dumbell curl
    6) 3x6 Hammer curl
    7) 5x15 Weighted Situps

    Tuesday: Rest

    Wednesday: Shoulders and Triceps

    1) 3x6 Barbell shoulder press
    2) 3x6 Dumbell side lateral raise
    3) 3x6 Barbell Upright Row
    4) 3x6 Close grip bench press
    5) 3x3 Dumbbell Triceps Extension
    6) 5x5 Weighted Bench Dip

    Thursday: Rest

Friday: Thighs and Hips and Calfs

    1) 3x6 Barbell Squat
    2) 3x6 Barbell Hack Squat
    3) 3x6 Barbell Straight Leg Dead-lift
    4) Run
    5) 3x6 Trap Bar Deadlift
    6) 5x15 Barbell Standing Leg Calf Raise
    7) 5x15 Barbell Reverse Standing Leg Calf Raise

    Saturday: Rest

    Sunday: Waist, Back, Neck

    1) 3x6 Barbell Cambered Bar Lying Row
    2) 3x6 Bent over dumbell row
    2) 3x6 Pull Up
    3) 3x6 Close grip pullup
    4) 5x15 Crunch
    5) 3x10 Neck Extention
    6) 3x10 Neck Flexion

Heres what i normally do, but its just too easy. I need it to be hard, because i really plan on going for size, and do strength after i gain some size.

Weight training needs to be progressive-- if you want strength and size, you need to add more weight to the bar on a consistent basis, so that a workout doesn't ever need to be 'easy.'

thats about the smartest routine put together by a 13 year old i have ever scene, you have all the basic mass builders and your working your legs big plus on that.

all i have to say is stick to that routine, and eat and eat and eat, and when you think your full, take a break and eat some more to help yourself grow.

one little key, is to remember is to try and get stronger and stronger each workout, rather it be just 5 pounds or an extra rep or two, always push yourself each and everytime you step foot in the gym..

Nice. You're certainly intelligent for a 13 year old. I was a moron. Just read everything on this site and you'll do great.

the routine on the link looks a bit much, id say 5 sets for your first exercise and 3 sets on all the ones following, anymore i think you'll be pushing the lines o over training. Trust me if you hit the first exercise hard enough and the following ones equally as hard thats about all you will be able to do.

the best way to gain size is to constantly try and get stronger, keep trying to lift a few more pounds or a few mor reps each workout. This way you keep your muscle adaptiing to an increasing stress and overload and it will have to grow bigger and stronger to protect itself.

Also as you train to get stronger you have to eat to get bigger, if ya train to get stronger and eat to get bigger, you will grow....
