Routine question-WHAT goes first, the chicken or the egg

It's probably been said before. But for the best optimum routine; do the back/biceps exercises after or before legs exercies? chest exer. after or before back exer? My routine is

    Monday
    back/biceps/abs
    Wed
    legs
    Friday
    chest/triceps/shoulders/traps/calves

that routine looks good. You wouldnt want to workout your chest right after back day or shoulder day because your lifts will suffer. Same thing with Back and legs those are big muscle groups you want to give your lower back couple of days rest in between.

I can see not doing chest after shoulders, but why not after back? So with that line of thought, I guess doing back after chest isn't a good idea either?

Okay, i am confused guys. It will be impossible to do as what you suggest, CiteCollegiale, for a 3 day workout. It will still come out to legs or back after one another. Unless, i split into a 4 day workout. I thought shoulders were okay on chest day.
So, chest is okay before back but not after it.

shoulders are ok on chest day as long as it's after chest work. Also, your shoulder work volume should be based on how much chest work you did.. If you do 8 sets of chest, it probably wouldn't be a good idea to do 8 sets of shoulders since your shoulders are worked quite a bit during chest.

I think the routine you have is fine because you give yourself enough time to rest.

Work larger muscles before smaller. So instead of what you have above, do this: Chest, shoulders, traps, triceps. It doesn't matter when you do calves because they aren't used in upper body work.

I agree with Max-Mex, if you do shoulders before chest you wont be able to lift as much...i know, i did it once and it was baaad!
