Hi. I'm on the first day of assessing my diet and I've just eaten a chicken vegetable stew but I have no idea how to add up the calories/protein/carbohydrates/fat of all the carrots, mushrooms, beans, tomatoes, gravy, chicken, potato etc. etc. How is this possible? I can figure out the chicken bit but the rest?

I wouldn't be able to calculate the calories of a homemade stew if it had a $20 million prize attached to it. I'd d@mn sure try, but it would be a wasted effort.

Yeah, but I'm trying to gain weight (tired of being a skinny mofo), so I need to check my current calorie intake before I can think about how much I need to add on.
yeah i hear ya rich just eat six good meals a day and right beofre bed go for oatmeal and protein powder (casenaite perferably) If your start gaining too much lower the carbs after dinner.
also eat protein after workout then eat an hr later

I use fitday.com to help me keep track of my calories. It has a large index of foods with the calorie ratios already figured out, among other useful features. you can also add cumstom food items that you eat that you don't se listed. And its FREE, check it out.
When I eat something I don't know the exact calorie ratios for, I just guess based on something similar that I do know the calories for. Good Luck!
