    Heavy squats and wrist pain

lately my wrists have been bothering me more than usual during sets of heavy squats. doesn't really seem to be much of a problem until i get around 450+, and then my right wrist is screaming. i thought about trying to put my hands over the bar, but that just seems like it wouldn't feel right. other than wrist wraps, do some of you guys have any tips/techniques i could use to take some of the pressure off the wrist?

Same problem here. Wrist wraps was the solution for me. I also keep my rep count low, 3-4 max. Get some good wraps. Inzer makes a good pair.

    Agreed on wraps.

If it's the max weight that is killing your wrists, try pre-fatiguing. I use lunges to do this to minimize loads on my lower back, but it could certainly cut down the weights your wrists are exposed to. I end up using 25-33% less weight for squats after a bunch of sets of lunges.

it's not the max weight, i'm keeping my reps around 6. it wouldn't really be that bad if i was just doin a 1RM. oh well, looks like i'll have to invest in some good wraps. thanks fellas.
