The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Big neck!

Hey! I'd like to know how many times a week one must train his neck. 3 times a week like the abs or 1 time like the big muscles?

I know neck training isn't much popular like chest or arms (this is why I ask) but I'm willing to increase the size of mine.

Is there anyone who has a neck workout that has shown results?

    Thank you very much

im pretty sure "think necks" are worked through compound movements such as the squat

ive never heard of isolating your neck to train it.

why would you want a unnaturally think neck?

    good luck

Neck training can be very dangerous. I've got about 18 or 19" I think and it's purly from squatting and shrugs etc etc. No direct work needed.

How does squatting make your neck bigger?

Deads and shrugs will work your neck. There are machines and pieces of equipment you can buy that are used to directly work the neck.

I would work it once a week, tops. Probably on the same day as you hit your traps. You do not want any kind of pattern overload injury with your neck. Either use a head strap and do front/back/side movements, or do neck bridges.

You don't always realize you are actually working a particular body part. There are times when I am squatting that the next day or two I feel it in my biceps and triceps. Why? Probably from holding and stabilizing the bar. I feel it in my traps too.

When I did a German Volume routine and did 10x10 squats, I felt it in places I had no idea were involved.

Besides all that, squats cause the body to release more muscle building hormones than probably any other exercise. So all the muscles benefit from this flood of testosterone and other anabolic hormones. It's called the spillover effect.

Maybe when you have a pinhead and neck to match it compared to the rest of your body you'll understand why you need to train you're neck.

Or when it gets broken in a fight, etc...

Get a neck harness. This works great. It's true that the back of your neck, primarily the traps are worked from trap exercises.

You could just go to Canada and play hockey for a while. That'll strengthen your neck right quick... either that or your head will come off. One or the other.

One of the main reason I want to train my neck is that I got a little chubby chin and I want to get rid of it. I've came across a site that lists some exercises to make your double chin disappear and one of them is the neck flexion. I thought I could do it with some weight as shown here http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/...WtNeckFlx.html for better results.

Now before you guys go on a rant saying this is only fat, that I should cardio and get a proper diet, let me tell you more about myself.

I'm 6'2 and 190 lbs. I don't know my bf% but I think it's not too bad since I can see the lines of my 4 upper abs without flexing them. I read that a double chin can be the manifestation of loose skin and terrible muscle tone. Maybe it's my case.

I started the Wanna be big routine this week and really liked it. I workout in a gym since july and do some cardio 2-3 times a week at 70-75% of my max heart rate. I eat 5-6 meals per day being very careful about fat (no junk or fast food for me).

I'd like to put on 10-15 lbs of muscle and, most of all, get rid of that fu**in' double chin!

Anyone that has been on the same situation as me?
    Any advice?

Canada, eh? Well, I've been living in Canada my whole life and used to play hockey during my high school years...I've got lots of anectodes and drunken tales but no strong neck

Working the neck to lose your double chin will not be effective. Remember, spot reduction does not work (there may be some small component to spot reduction, but the degree is so small as to make it a waste of time-----this is not the opinion of scientists, only mine-----). If you want to lose that chin chub, you need to lower your overall bodyfat levels.
