The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

I prefer leg raises (incline bench or hanging), situps (incline), or just plain ole crunches. Most of those machines are worthless crap. Well, the ab roller is a cool little device (wheel with to hand grips on both sides).

I use a barbell with 10 pound plates affixed as an 'ab roller'

Well, if my gym had round plates that would be great. However, it doesn't. We have octogon shaped plates. They have a roller though so I don't have to worry about it.

There are little or no mechanical machine that will give you better results on ab work than regular weighted crunches, leg raises, etc...

The 6 second abs infomercial never ceases to make me laugh every time, it's garbage.

I find it a lot better doing weighted crunches on a Swiss Ball. I find it gives you a better range of motion and much easier on your back. It is also good for doing DB presses because it really forces you to use your stabilizer muscles throught out your whole body.

I watch infomercials about weightlifting and **** like that like losing weight, and they have me yelling at the tv. The only thing that I've seen that would come close to actually going to the weightroom in reward for effort would be the bowflex.
Have you guys seen the one that says squats are bad for your knees? Well tv remote could be deadly if used incorrectly.

We have about 10 Swiss balls at our gym right in the weightrooms.
