A while back I was taking about 75 grams of whey isolate at once, then I read that the body can only absorb about ~25-30 grams at once, so I am assuming I was just pissing away my money
But, in the article here on wannabebig it does say that there is some research that shows that the body can take in more. So my question is, what is true? Is it worth taking any more than 25grams of protein at once? And if this 25g thing is true, whats the value of eating a 40g protein chicken breast if you can only absorb 25g of it? Thanks, Michael
I have heard about 40-45 grams per meal. Not sure if it is true though. Just take a look at pro bodybuilders. They consumer upwards of 100 grams per meal.
yeah 100 grams of protein and 1000mgs of test
THere is no limit to what you can absorb. All the numbers are complete crap. This has been discusssed about a milion times.

The body is extremely efficient and will process just about everything you give it. All of that protein will be absorbed. The real question is - how much will be used for muscle building?
I have analyzed the protein content of my fesces and decided to market it as a protein bar.Do you want a free sample? I only have one flavor at the moment. Peanuts n' Corn
I'm not making fun of anyone just kidding around. Please like me....
Now that's a completely different story but it really has not much to do with how much protein you're getting in one sitting but with overall protein intake.Originally Posted by TheGimp

Probably tastes better than the ones they sell at my gym...Originally Posted by Patrick74
The type would be a main factor as well. Go with a casein or whey/casein blend source.
Also there are several threads on this exact topic which may prove to be worthwhile reads..

Your body will keep using as much protein as it possibly needs, so there is no limit, only what your body takes in. Every cell in you body needs protein, and will continually use it.
You should be getting about 1 gram of protein for every pound of body weight (as discussed). You don't need to get all hardcore on the protein, just take what you need. Too much can give you kidney problems and whatnot later on.
