The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Can you always focus in the gym?

Hey guys, do you ever feel like you lose concetration when ever going to the gym? Sometimes during a set a start of well and then towards the end I start thinking of other random stop. How can I stop doing this?

    Maybe shorten your workout sessions.

They should be no longer than 1 hour each.

stare at the clock and time your break between sets...
by the time you catch your breath, write down your weights, put them on the machines and stretch your ready to go again

I look at hot chicks between sets. I then get the strange idea that they might be impressed by my deadlifts and so I do my set. I'm crushed when they start talking to some pussy curl jockey. Maybe it's my hideous hunchback appearance. Repeat for every set.

LOL. I listen to music. I prefer Electronica or Hard Metal, something that keeps me moving and makes me feel intense. It tends to keep my adrenaline cooking and really helps me maintain focus. Nothing is worse than going into a lift with no focus or adrenaline...it feels twice as heavy and everything sucks Hot women will do the trick, if they are standing there watching you I guess...you could always pretend that they are watching you...

Well, if I don't concentrate, I could end up being crushed (squats) or pinned(bench). That's enough to keep my concentration.

it gets me off focus and i cant stand it cause i loose concentration.. and u know.. but blind folds and ice in your pants helps as well as taping speakers to ur head and playing obnoxiously loud music :evillaugh and if any 1 asks, just say its so you can concentrate

I find that an army of monkeys watching over me helps keep concentration. When i start losing it the hairy one whips me in the back and i get back to it . The others are just there to taunt me and say what a weak little b*tch i am. Unfortunately, they dont leave once the workout is over.

On a side note, if anyone wants an army of monkeys just ask...

Heh.. I find some very fine older girls in my gym. The one always seems to do the machine right beside me whenever I go to a different one.. maybe just a coincidence? o.O

And then.. this one girl, I wasn't even really lookin' at her.. and her husband or boyfriend comes by and stares down at me in an angered look slowly passing by..

I occassionally let myself get distracted between sets But never during an exercise... total concentration, always.

LOL, yeah, lifting weights turns into a total need rather than a want. it's all sorts of addicting and depression ensues when your routine is f''d up. Good ol' endorphins

Thanks for all the replies guys, I just need to get my mind set not so much on the weight and the exercise, but more on the muscle I am working.
