okay i hurt my rotator cuff kinda bad in soph year of HS, now a senior in college, so like 6 years ago. to this day i cannot throw a ball my hardest w/o pain for a day or two. anyways today i began intramural wrestling, and haven't been on a mat in quite some time. needless to say i hurt my rotator cuff in the 45 minutes i was there. my instinct is to ice, but it's not a muscle, i don't think. isn't it a joint issue? anyways i'm just stretching it til i hear if i should ice or what. any advice (besides 'don't do things to irritate it like lifting and wrestlign') would be greatly appreciated
Having just gone back to the Dr. for (now two) rotator cuff strains, I have a list of excercises/stretches.
There are 4? muscles that join together, apparently I've hurt 2.
Take Ibuprofin for the inflamation (I was told 12 a day, it's the max) and ice.
I'd see a Dr. if I was you.
should i start icing it the second day? appears you signed up to give a response, so thanks alot. i stretched it like crazy last night. i dont' know any doctor prescribed stretches, and i'm not much of a doctor person anyways, so i'll see how bad it gets and if it hurts monday, or if wrestling again hurts it more. like i said i hurt it like 6 years ago, so this has kind of been something i've been dealing with on and off, and over the years i've learned how to stretch it right on my own, though i have more than 4 stretches, but i'm sure i include them in what i do.
