    If you're looking for something more contemporary (and perhaps quite timely considering the recent violence), I highly recommend the following books by Tim O'Brien, the best of the Vietnam writers IMHO:

    The Things They Carried
    Going After Cacciato
    In The Lake of the Woods

    Bah... stick with magazines or Choose Your Own Adventures.
