At the gym I am at, it's hard to stick to some of the same exercises because there are only so many benches and so many people who wanna use them. I can get 2 of my 3 exercises for my chest done...but the 3rd is always hard to get in. Do you think it's OK to do another exercise (On a machine) instead, when you can't get a bench. Or is that not a great idea? I am still working my target muscle...just not with the same exercise.
The same pretty much goes for other target muscles...I can get in the first 2 exercises, then when I get to the 3rd, it's either wait around for the bench or whatever to free up or hit a machine. Since I wanna keep up my pace, I have been hitting the machine.
yeah iff people take ages on bench's machines are ok, why not? bit of a silly question imo

Do dips, use a power rack, or dumbells.
Why not just ask to work in with them? Tell their ass to share those benches...I always do this if I need a bench right away. Most people will be more than glad to share.
I would ask...but most of the time, they are already sharing with someone. It really sucks...the only day I really have time with the benchs is on a late Friday. That's when I might have to save my exercises for the bench. Machines can also be a pain, when there are too many people, and they just sit there in the seat knowing that I wanna use the machine too...I guess I have to be a bit more aggressive.
definitely be aggressive, you are at the gym for one reason, and it's not to sit there and watch some guy sit on the equipment. Just ask to work in.
This is one of the reasons I prefer to work out at home, no competition.

i find when im in the gym i can do so much more anyway.
Benches are crowded for a reason, don't quit a certain exercise to make things more convenient for others in gym. Do not be afraid to do stuff out of order if you see an open bench assault it with extreme prejudice.
little tip - dont have monday as a bench day.
