The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Squats, because they train the largest muslces in the body more intensely than deads, and you train the rest of the body (traps etc.) with specific exercises.

I have to go with deads.....

    I know many people disagree.....

I just know what seems to have help best for me..

My weight went up from squats quite a lot and I think this is mostly due to the size of muscles squats emphasize (thighes, hams etc..)

However deads have seemed to bring up my uppper body very well and also have seemed to make a diff in my hams too...

I would go with deads, but would never be without either

I like deads more because i can go alot harder on them. I agree that squats are better for most people but i have over 100 pound difference in the two.

Deads for all over in my opinion.

Dips and chins are the upper body squats.

i think both are pretty good. But sense the deadlifts gave me a major headache last month i think squats are best . But on the serious side i do think squats are a little better.

i don't know how you guys can do deadlifts. When I try to do heavy weight the bar scrapes along my shins and hurts.

This is a tough poll, because both the squat and dead use so many muscles!!! I'm going with deadlift, because you have to use your whole body, including your legs.

WIth the squat, you only use your lower body, and your upper body just to balance the weight!

darcy tucker, i wear some nice thick sweats on dead day as i had that problem and that solved that.

I agree that i would never be without both. I bet you could just do deads, and squats as a workout and be crying for your mother when you leave the gym, but you'd get pretty damn big..

    PANSY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love deadlifts! I love squats too, but so far have found more overall benfit from deads IMO. Bottom line, you can't go wrong with either exercise.

"I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do--this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God's law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God--through Jesus Christ our Lord!"

I prefer squats, but I think most people will get more from deads as they are easier to push to the limit in your last few reps. Squats on the other hand requires 2 people to spot you when you are pushing it hard till failure.
