    Best Hamstring Exercises?

I'm looking for some hamstring exercises to add to my routine. SLDL's are an obvious one, but what would be some other exercises that would be good?
Best way to cheat on deadlifts...

Stand there for a few minutes, then pace back and forth a lot, huff and puff, wait until everybody's looking. Approach the bar. Back off. Approach it again. Back off. Get some water. Chalk up. Approach the bar again. Then spray some more chalk around. Wait until people start losing interest. When nobody's looking, pick it a little off the floor, and slam it down. Jump up and yell "LIGHT WEIGHT BABY". Then give high fives all around. - Belial

RDL's and SLDL's are extremely similar.
the only difference is most people doing SLDL's use lighter weight, and bend further

I can't imagine how to do a one legged SLDL or RDL while still maintaining balance...

From the link that geoffgarcia posted....

Squats, deadlifts, leg presses and the like are all quad dominant exercises.

quads, calves, hams and glutes are activated in most of those exercises.
at certain points of the movement the emphasis shifts a bit, but generall they are quad movements with perhaps the exception of dl

if ya drill down in here you'll find more specific info

These exercises do work the quads primarily.

I've been deadlifting for a while, nearing 400 pounds 1RM at the moment, and I can tell you that they've NEVER given me soreness in teh quads, and much pain in the ass and hamstrings I do start from a lower squat position than most people though...

Pullthroughs, GMs, GHR and sumo deads hit the hams pretty well.

If you think deadlifts are a "quad-dominant" movement you've never done one. Or at least never done one with any weight.

Yeah...didn't see DLs in there, saw Leg Press and Squats. However, I feel my DLs in my lower back mostly...is this right?

It's one of the weaker muscles so you'll "feel" it there most. Could be a form issue as well.

Geoff, they are not quad movements if you are doing the exercise correctly. Squats are a lower back, hamstring, hips, and glutes exercise. Same with deadlifts.

For example, most elite olympic squatters can do a full 500 lbs. olympic squat, but an elite power lifter can do a full 800 lbs. power squat. The olympic squatter couldn't do an 800 pound power squat, but do you think the 800 lbs. power squatter could do a 500 pound olympic squat? Of course he could, thats a warm up weight. Why can't the olympic squatter do what the power squatter can do, but the power squatter can do what the olympic squatter can do? Because the olympic squatter does not have the back, the hamstrings or the glutes to do what he can.

I wouldn't be so sure. You can't use a squat suit or briefs for Olympic squats.

I'm talking in general, as in, no suits for either, the power squatter will squat signifigantly more, in both olympic and power squats.

Again, I wouldn't be so sure. They're very different movements.
