The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Hairloss! Ahhh!

Both my younger brother and older have severe balding.
Meanwhile, I've always had a full head of hair (I'm in my 30s now).
All of a sudden, within the last few months, bam, I'm going through some serious thinning above the forehead.

I've never paid any attention to the hairloss drug commercials. Can anyone say that there is a drug out there that is worth going on? I plan on going to my doctor soon and ask him about it, but I'd like to know from anyone with some experience on this issue.

Nizoral shampoo is a good OTC product.

okay, thanx for the suggestions. I'm going to read up on this stuff.

Anyone have any positive personal experiences with any product, either OTC or prescription?

Never tried any of them personally, but I know Propecia (finasteride) can have some nasty side effects -- decreased libido and impotence to name a couple.

Don't forget about hair transplantation as an option. It's pricey, but looks natural if done by a experienced physician specialized in that area.

I'm not bald nor balding at the moment, but genetics and elder males in my family suggest I will be with time. I'll either shave it all off, or go with the transplants.
    I know you're half-crazy, but I wish you'd go all the way.

Start Rogain immediately, all available treatments for hair loss both prescription and OTC are far more effective at maintaining hair than growing new hairs after noticable loss has occured.

OTC products that are probably the most effective

Rogain (minoxidil) - start this first

    Then consider looking into

    Revivogen
    Folligen
    Emu oil

You will need a script from your doctor for propecia (finastride). Propecia lowers your bodies production of DHT via inhibiting one form of the enzyeme 5-alpha-reductase. Propecia is systematic so it does carry side effects so you should spend a great deal of time researching the drug before starting as you must remain on it for as long as you want to maintain your hair line.

That last part goes for the OTC products as well, they will only work if you use them consistantly year round. Topical products do not carry systematic side effects but you must be willing to deal with taking the time to apply them daily until you decide your old enough where you don't care that your hair is going to fall out.

You may find www.hairlosshelp.com , helpful. When I was obsessing about my hairloss I spent a great deal of time there.

As mentioned above, Nizoral is almost considered essential to any hair survival routine. Also, I tried revivogen. It didn't work for me. However, many have claimed success with it.

Don't be one of those wimps that tries to save every little hair. Its futile and in the end makes you look like a tool. I have yet to see a body builder with a comb over.

Now where did I put that rogaine?

The main thing is to not get obessive about it.

At the end of the day you ARE fighting a natural and losing battle. Sure all this type of stuff will help slow stuff down, but don't put your life on hold worrying about it and stressing.

I am taking procepia and have had no side effects. Can't say I have noticed too much of a difference, but I can't compare it with not taking it, who knows it could have been losing faster without it?

I use the shampoo and procepia and just don't worry about it after that. Yeah I might shave it all off at some point, but for now I am ok.
