The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Actual (realistic) body mass increase on bulk diet

You know the BS advertisements 30 pounds muscle in 12 weeks. I am interested in what is realistic and typical, ie how much one can reasonably gain or cut over a period of time. Have read through some journals, but would be nice in condensed version. I will start with mine. Please be honest.

I am 40, 6 ft even, and no drugs. Thanks for any input of anyones bulking or cutting before and after and time frame.

    Before ....... .... .... after bulking
    June 6 2004 ........... November 1 2004
chest 41.0 ........ 42.0 (relaxed straight at nipples)
    waist 34.5 ... .. .. 35.75 (bellybutton)..have tire waist
    hips 39.75 ..... .. 40.5
    thigh 22.5 ..... .. 24.0
    abv kn 16.0 ...... ..17.0 (2 inches above knee)
    calf 15.0 ... ... ... 15.5
    Bic 14.5 ........... 15.25
    FA 11.5 ... ....... 12.0
    weight 181 ......... 195
    BF% ? ...... ..... .. 13% (by calipers 9 point)

I have long ways to go to my goal, but I have to cut now til I lose 2 inches from my waist, then will bulk again.

i think depending on where you start out at and genetics plays a big role on how much one can lose while dieting and how much muscle one can gain while bulking... i'd assume if you trained naturally look for 2 lbs muscle gain month unless you are just starting out... and as far as how much fat it depends how much you have to lose and how fast you want to lose it... realistically the faster you lose weight you have an increased chance of losing muscle as well.
