I never realized this before but having a nice car is trouble.
Your often targeted by the cops.
I'm thinking about either getting a good radar detector or selling
Anyone use radars? I think they are legal in the states.
They're illegal in Canada, so I have to buy it off the internet.
I've only seen a handful before and none of them seem to be all that accurate.

Maybe you could stop speeding, use your turn signals, and obey all traffic laws?
Whether or not they look at your car first is irrelevant, since you're breaking laws to begin with. It's tough being young. I was a chronic speeder until I was 23.
And radar detectors are legal in most states..some states don't allow them, though. If you get one, get a good one like a Valentine1. The chep ones are garbage, and a set of automatic doors will set them off from 200yds away.
Some states are using laser now..I think they make detectors for that also, as well as some combo detectors.
I hear you, but I'm not always speeding, I've noticed cops following me for several miles just waiting for me to roll over a hair above the speed limit.Originally Posted by mrelwooddowd
And I know this sounds like a typical excuse but sometimes it's not safe to travel right at the speed limit. I rarely speed, the cars never gonna get broke in.
what do you drive, anyway?

Still, the horsepower per liter of those engines is sick.

Should I buy a crap garbage one just in case, and hand that one over to the police so they don't take the V1?
My car is only a year old, if that.....give it time, the reputation will begin :evillaughOriginally Posted by mrelwooddowd
Oh Mr Elwood, if that were your situation right now(notorious sports car, chronic speeder, young man.), I think we would've been very good friends.

The following states have other rules that do NOT allow the use of radar detectors.
NEW YORK (Commercial vehicles over 10,000 lb -other vehicles 18,000 lb)
VIRGINIA (No detectors )
OKLAHOMA (Cops can cite as a traffic violation)
WASHINGTON, DC (No detectors)
And to answer your question about if cops can detect if you have a detector. Yes they can. My dad has been a cop for 25 years and I've seen the technology even though they don't use it in Tennessee it's called VG-2. BUT the good thing is most modern radar detectors claim to block VG-2 and will even go off if a cop tries to use it on you.

I WAS a notorious speeder for a long time, but fortunately I didn't get caught too often doing dtupid stuff. I'm only 25 now, but I usually don't even break the speed limit on the interstate.
I've heard also that cops have detector detectors, but I don't know if that's accurate or not. You should join a car forum, and ask around there some to see what the opinions are. I do know the Valentine1's are over 200, and I think 300 dollars, though.

yes, i think here too, but 1 conviction is over 3 years ago, and i fought the others where i paid a fine but no point reductions. always fight your tickets people. but my insurance is through the roof, regardless of points, a ticket no matter what raises your insurances.Originally Posted by mrelwooddowd

the PoNine never added onto my speed...
I WAS doing 40 in a parking lot
I WAS driving on the Burm
I WAS doing 60 in a 50
I WAS doing 70 in a construction zone (accident..I slowed, then sped back to the linit out of habit)
I DEFINITELY WAS doing 85 in a 55
I think I still have 9 of 12 points left, after some traffic school, and years gone by. Luckily, I've gotten married, turned 25, and changed states in all that time as well, and the tickets have missed my insurance company.
I shall make the best offort I can not to get another.
WHy would you buy a freaking RX-8 for $28,000? Should have got a goat
Wa? 28,000 is for a BASE model....I paid more, do you not know anything about cars? My total tab in Canadian dollars $49,000.Originally Posted by GMCtrk

Right..... I would want to buy a big american clunker with the interior furnished by rubbermaid when I can drive a sleek japanese sports car.Originally Posted by mrelwooddowd
28 for a base model... uh no where the hell are you shopping... i dont even know much about cars but unless you are buying the special edition it aint gonna cost you more then 30... and apparently the cops target you cuz you are speeding you wouldnt need a radar detector otherwise.
