The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Situps

I dont get tired of Doing ab exercises. I usually do 200 situps (at a steady speed) and then stop myself of fear of overtraining. The next day i feel fine to do another 200. Can I do more than 200? and how often?
    thanks

Doing 200 reps is pointless. Do weighted exercises and work in a 5-12 rep range.

Theres better things you could do with your time than doing countless numbers of situps. Watching paint dry is one. Watching grass grow is another. And the sad fact is, they will probably make your ab's grow just as well

I say definetly add weights...seems like you're not getting anywhere doing 200 situps.

For me, I do crunches on an excercise ball with my feet on the wall. 2 sets 100 reps. It burns like hell. You guys think this is good? Or should I do weighted situps 15 reps 3 sets? BTW..both of them burn.. Which one do you think would be more effective?

Psst, that equals 200 situps as well
I would treat the ab's just like any other muscle. A lot of ppl will disagree with me though.

Would you expect any gains from 200 reps of bench presses? If not, then why from situps?

I dunno about you..but I do feel like I have gained a lot more endurance when I bench press doing long reps in a row. I have felt stronger and have gotten more cut doing it.

You dont suppose your diet had anything to do with it, and that alone?

He was refering to the original question posted by deadleg. I think we are all in agreement that 200 situps is a waste of time.
