    Power Hooks Are Awesome!

This is for all you guys/gals that workout without a spotter. I just purchased some Power Hooks to help me with my heavy dumbbell exercises and I have to tell you that these things are awesome. They have to be one of the best pieces of equipment I have bought for my home gym in a long time.

It has always been a pain in the ass trying to get my heavy dumbbells into place while sitting or laying on my bench. The only way I could do it was to stand up, swing the weights up to my shoulders and then try and lay down on the bench, major pain in the butt as many of you know. I was actually doing some flat bench flys today and I hurt my right front delt lowering the weight down to the floor after my set. I am glad to say this will never happen again. With these hooks I can set up a barbell over my bench, hang the dumbbells from it, lay down and start pressing, when I am done I can just hang them back on the barbell.

One of my favorite exercises for my triceps is the lying tricep extension. I use a tricep bar that is sort of oval shaped with two vertical handles in the middle of it. This bar really nails the tri's but it's too short to reach the supports on my cage. Now I can just use one of these hooks to suspend this bar too. I can't tell you how much easier it is to get set up for a lift now. No more grunting and groaning tyring to lay down a loaded bar in my hands.

There is one other exercise that I am looking forward to using them for and that is the close grip bench press. I have found that using an ez-curl bar for this exercise really takes the strain of my wrist and allows for a much more comfortable hand position. Just as my tricep bar the ez-curl bar will not reach the supports on my rack. Now I can finally load up my ez-curl and hang it from my barbell.

You don't need a rack to utilize these hooks either any bench with extendable support post will work.

I just thought I would put a post on the forum about these hooks because I was doing a search here the other day to research them a little bit and I could only find a few vague post about them.

I am surprised that you don't have a bench, you can get them pretty cheap. Don't you think you are gonna need one eventually anyways?

The hooks really wouldn't be hard to make at all.

I got a cheap little bench at target for $30. The leg extension part of it is built for a midget, but I don't do those anyway. it's a good, sturdy bench.

i sold my home gym for 100 bucks, and had the money but decided that since there wasn't anyone to spot me, i should just get a semi-cheap dumbell bench, and spend the rest of my money on more plates for my ez curl and dumbell bars, and a pair weightlifting gloves..i'm getting a killer callous where my wedding ring digs in, but if i take it off, i'll forget about it and eventually lose it...i saw that bench at target..it comes in a little box, and they don't even have on on display!..i thought..heck no!..guess i was wrong..my dad works for a big power plant, and he can get me super-steel for the hooks if i ever do that, so they'll be tough and thick..i'm trying not to spend my working money on this, cause i'm already broke enough, and like i said i like trying to build stuff..who knows, maybe i'll sell a patent out of it!

Yes they would work great for that too. You don't have to attach them to a dumbbell or barbell. You can leave them hanging on a barbell and use them as catches to set another bar into.
