The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

help with serious muscle building - no weights

    Ok all, here's the deal:

Right now I work out at home with weights. I'm about to go on tour with my band, and I'll probably be gone a total of 4 months this year. I'm trying to put together a work out routine with no weights that will match my routine at home so I don't lose all my hard work while I'm on tour.

    Right now I do:

    Bench Press
    Curls
    Sqats
    Military Press
    Dips
    Crunches

In that order, 3 days a week. I run almost every day, but this is no problem to do without weights obviously.

My first question is, is it possible to match these exercises without weights?

My second question is, what exercises will do the job?

Thanks a lot for any help!!

    Greg.

Well, there are push-ups of course, and you can do variations of those to hit your tri's or chest more. Shoulders, I'm not sure on unless you can do hand stand push ups...those would hit your shoulders. Just don't fall on your face...lol. The rest of them, I don't really know. Btw, where are you touring and what kind of music?

Sorry bro, but without the weights you won't get the resistance that you need to grow. Push-ups, sit-ups, and chin-ups/pull-ups will help maintain a little, but if your serious you might need to find a gym to train at where ever you might be. I travel a lot, so I feel your pain. $10 per day at some gyms get expensive.

The music is like, progressive rock...kind of hard to describe. Think instrumental King Crimson / Pink Floyd (earlier stuff). We're going to be in Europe in Feb. and then hopefully almost all the U.S. during the summer.

Well crap, I was hoping there would be something. What about push-ups (working my way to one arm), dips, pull-ups, hand stands push ups and crunches? Would that still not compare?

Tie a rope around your waste, and to the tour bus, and start walking

If you have dbs at home, I say bring them on the tour with you, easiest way for everything you can't do with just body weight resistance.

If you have the money, you may want to invest in some Power Blocks. They're excellent dbells and portable. However, they're a touch expensive.

I think TJ was joking too, because you spelled waist as waste, as in feces.

Thats how I took it anyway.

Haha...well this turned into a great thread. I guess I'll use tour time to cut and concentrate on cardio. Lifting equipment is a great suggestion actually. I can't bring any weight equipment, it's going to be fairly cramped as it is, but I'm sure I can get creative with a guitar amp or something. Cool, thanks guys!

Pushups, pullups, sit ups, or just do your workouts with other things. You know like in Rocky 4 hahahaha. Im sure you could bring a few weights along with you, i meen obviously not a bar and everything but a couple free weights. I dont knwo what you play in the band but if you play drums that will help maintain it some. Or like I said, find something heavy on your trip and work with it.

Most bigger hotels have mini gyms now with some
equipment (usually not much, but better than none).
Plus, I've walked into gyms all over the world (New
Orleans, Puerto Rico, Bahamas, London) and worked
out for like $10.00. Plus they'll have protein shakes, etc
    if you're interested.

i would say that life is(hopefully) a long journey

and that you have more than enough time later to concern yourself w/ lifting, cutting, etc.

being an american on tour in europe is probably a fulfillment of a dream that many a young buck posesses

my advice would be to not worry about all of that nonsense and to eat, drink, and be merry

and shag as many hot european chicks as is humanly possible

when your 55 y/o you'll get many more a smile and pleasant thought reflecting on that then remembering how you maintained strength and caloric intake/outtake whilst touring

Skip the roadies and move all the stage equipment yourself Those amps, speaker, and other stuff is heavy. Maybe you could do some overhead presses with a big amp. Decline pushups with your feet up on something about 2' tall.

    Just an idea. Good luck.

Which came first, the chicken or the egg? I really don't give a **** I'm gonna eat em both!
