    PR on bench last night

I know this probably isn't a big deal for you guys, but I benched 250 last night, which is the most I have ever done. It was really a great feeling to know that I am getting stronger.

My max bench is currently 125 pounds.
that is well according to a 1rm calculator on www.exrx.com,
    I never did any maxes.
I repped 8x100 couple days ago, but damn does it race up fast now....
for a month now i have increased by 9 or 10 lbs a week, not losing any # of reps.
must be my beginners gains and nervous system adapting or something cuz I bet as a natty 15 yr old those arent normal gains

    Great job!! 300 falls next.
    Squats work better than supplements.
"You know, if I thought like that, I'd never put more than one plate on the bar for anything, I'd never use bands or chains, I'd never squat to parallel or below, and I'd never let out the slightest grunt when I lift. At some point in your lifting career (assuming you're planning on getting reasonably strong and big), you're going to have to accept that most people think you are some kind of freak." -Sensei

Good work man. How much do you weigh? Do you train for strength(powerlifting)?

I guess I am mostly trying to gain weight, but of course I want to get stronger. I think they go together to an extent. Right now I weigh around 168, I am about 5'10" tall, and 23 years old. My goal is basically to get really big. Do you think 200lbs is a realistic goal for my height?

I think 200 is more than realistic.

Good job on the bench! As they said, 300 is next!

Reiner, I think what he meant is do you use the weight you can do on the bench press with dumbells to determine the max weight.. Reason why I'm assuming this is because I know I can do a lot more on barbell press then db. I'm assuming that most people find it the same way.

    Well,
This might not be the most ambitious goal, but for the next six weeks or so I am mostly just going to try to maintain the progress I have made lately. I have my last set of midterms and then finals coming up for my first semester in grad school, so I have to devote most of my spare time to that. I think this is actually helping me to an extent though, after spending some time away from the gym I have realized that I spent most of last summer overtraining. About two weeks ago Friday night was the end of a two week hiatus from the gym for me, and I almost got the 250 up. The next Wednesday, I did it. So I think part of the key for what I am seeing lately is just resting enough.
